Caylie POV
"We should apologize" I say, Thinking about Alex, Cheryl, and Ashlyn.
"To who? Kate?" Says Grace. "I'm not apologizing to her"
"No, not Kate." I say, rolling my eyes. "To Ashlyn, and Cheryl, and Alex."
"Right"
"We pulled them into this pile of Drama, then we just kinda abandoned them"
"Okay. Let's go."
We walk over to the table that they are sitting at.
"It looks like you two have figured things out" says Ashlyn.
"Yeah. Where's Kate?" says Cheryl.
"You mean the traitor?" says Grace. "I don't know, nor do I care"
"Okay then" says Alex
"Can we please sit down?" I ask. "We owe you guys an explanation."
"Yeah, sure, go ahead" says Alex.
We sit down. "So, tell us. Where have you been lately?" Says Ashlyn.
I glance at Grace. "Well, since the whole DQ thing, as you probably know, we've been pretty mad at each other"
"Go on" says Cheryl.
"I've been hanging out with the people from 5/6K" (the other grade six class)
"That's understandable" says Ashlyn.
"Kate has obviously been hanging out with Seth"
"Obviously" says Alex
"But what have you been doing, Grace?" Ashlyn asks.
"Oh. Um. You know, sitting, um, by myself"
"Really?" Says Alex
"Um, yeah."
"Anyways" I say. "I was with the people from 5/6k, and then Eton, he, um, he pulled me apart from the rest of the group, and he, he, um-"
"He kissed her" Grace says, noticing that I was having trouble saying it.
They gasp. "He kissed you!?"
"Yes" I say "Anyways, I was shocked, and so I ran. I didn't really have anyone to talk to. So I just sat down and cried."
"Okay"
"Then I saw her crying" says Grace. "I was going to go talk to her, but I decided not to because, well, I was mad at her. Then Kate went over to her. I didn't want Kate to get her onto her side of things. Yes, I was really mad at her, but I was more mad at Kate"
"And then, at lunch" I say
"Yes" says Grace. She takes a deep breath and continues. "We were trying to figure things out. To understand it. I forgave Caylie. But, I just can't forgive Kate! I mean, she's dating the guy that blackmailed me! That isn't forgivable."
"Okay. I understand" says Ashlyn. "But will you ever forgive her?"
"I don't know" Says Grace. "I really don't know.
Eton POV
I kissed Caylie. I finally did it, and she hates me now. Great.
I need to talk to her about this. To explain. "Can I talk to you?" I ask, walking up to her and her friends, who are sitting at a lunch table.
"We're kind of in the middle of something here" she says, annoyed.
"Fine" I say. "I will talk to you on the bus."
~~~~~~page break~~~~~~~
It's after school. I sit in my assigned seat in the bus. I wait for Caylie to get on.
When she does, she looks to the seat that our bus driver makes us share, and frowns.
She walks toward me rather reluctantly, and sits down on the very edge of the seat, as far from me as possible.
"I'm sorry" I say.
"You're sorry for kissing me?"
"Yes"
"Why did you do it then?"
"I got caught up in the moment, I guess."
She laughs. I blush. "Caught up in the moment?" she asks.
"Yes"
"Well. I'm sorry for your confusion of my feelings."
"That's perfectly alright."
"It was a joke"
"I am aware of that"
"Wow." And that is the (it's really surprising, because she usually talks a lot on the bus) last word she says to me the whole ride.
