Caylie POV

I'm sitting on my bed. Crying. It's a Saturday. I can't think straight. What am I going to do?

Suddenly, my phone rings. I gasp and reach for it, hoping its Grace. It isn't. It's Kate.

"Hello Kate" I say

"You're saved"

"What do you mean, I'm saved?"

"I mean, Seth isn't going to tell anyone"

"How do you know?"

"He told me"

"You were talking to him?"

"Yes. He apologized"

"And you forgave him?"

"Yes. I had to. He quoted the fault in our stars."

"So?"

"So, he quoted the line when Augustus said he loved Hazel!"

"So?"

"So, it was sweet!"

"So?"

"Stop saying that!"

"You forgave the moron who was blackmailing your friend! It doesn't matter if he bought you a diamond ring! You can't forgive him! Grace is going to hate you!"

And I hang up. I'm glad that Kate convinced Seth to keep Grace's secret, but blackmailing isn't something you forgive easily for. Not even if they tell you they love you by quoting your favourite love quote.

I need to call Grace. I have been waiting for her to call me all day, and she hasn't done it. I can't wait anymore

"Hello?" her mother says, answering the phone. It really sucks that Grace can't just have her own cell phone.

"Hi, um, can I please talk to Grace?" I ask.

"This is Caylie?"

"Yes"

"I'm sorry, but Grace specifically said she refuses to speak to you or Kate."

"Please." I say. "It's really important."

"I'll ask."

"Thank you"

"Grace!" I hear the muffled sound of Grace's mom calling her.

Then it goes on mute, and I can't here their conversation.

"What do you want?" Grace asks me. Finally.

"I wanted to apologize" I say, heaving a sigh of relief. She is actually talking to me.

"And to tell you that Kate talked to Seth. He isn't going to tell anyone"

"Thank god" she says, and I can tell that her mood has lifted a bit.

"God Grace." I say. "I'm sorry. I was thinking about Kate. I was thinking of how she would be dating someone who was blackmailing you. I didn't think of how you would react to it"

"Yeah, well, you should have." She says. "You thought it was okay to let the world know something that I desperately wanted to stay hidden. You were okay with that."

"Grace, I-" but she had hung up. I throw my phone. How could this happen? I never wanted this to happen. Her secret isn't even getting out, and she still hates me.
