Okay, so this is a chapter that is mostly irrelevant to the main story. I just wrote it for my own personal entertainment. I'd like to give a shout out to 11th_treasure for giving me the idea for it. That's right Kate, if you don't like this, blame caylie, not me. Anyways, enjoy!
Kate's POV
"We should go on an actual date" Seth says, talking to me over the phone.
"Oh, really? We're 12, what kind of date did you have in mind?"
"Something simple" he says "you know, like the movies"
"The movies sound great" I say, surprised that he came up with that by himself. "When would we go, and what movie would we see?"
"That's all up to you, babe"
"Seth! I told you not to call me that!"
"I know" I can picture the smirk on his face. It makes me smile.

"We need to make a list of suspects." Says Ashlyn. Ashlyn and Grace are both really smart, but in different ways.
Grace is a math genius (although Ashlyn did do better on the last math test, which kinda made Grace angry) and is obsessed with being perfect at everything. She hates it when Draytin does better than her on anything. Grace actually takes pride in her intelligence.
Ashlyn is really logical, and is smart without trying that hard, unlike Grace. If we were to do a test, without being allowed to study for it, Ashlyn would probably get a higher mark. Ashlyn doesn't brag about her IQ. She doesn't brag about being smart, she just is, naturally.
"Alright" Grace says. "Who's first on the list?"
I think. About a month ago, I would have said Seth. Now though, I don't think it was him.
My next option would be Draytin, but he was ruled out too. Draytin hates Grace, he wouldn't make her ask him out.
Who else hates her? I don't know. It could be some random person, that likes watching people embarrass themselves.
"Maybe, Jacob?" Ashlyn asks.
Grace jots it down. "Who else?"
"Shelby?" Caylie suggests. I burst out laughing. Shelby is this girl in our class, who thinks she is popular. She isn't really, though. Caylie doesn't like her that much, because she can be really rude.
She doesn't hate Grace though. I don't think she is capable of doing this to her. Shelby doesn't have anything against her.
"I don't think it was Shelby" I say through laughs. Grace jots it down anyways.
"Not many people people hate you, Grace" Alex says, looking thoughtful. "And, the people who do, have been ruled out."
"Seth isn't completely ruled out" Cheryl says "for all we know, he could've asked Kate out, just so he would be ruled out"
I stop laughing at once. "How could you say that?" I ask staring right at her. That was mean. Of course Seth didn't just start dating me to get him off of the possibility list. That isn't even a possibility.
Grace jots it down. "You agree with her?" I ask, anger pulling at my words. "You think Seth is blackmailing you?"
"It's a possibility, Kate" she says, looking up from her list. "We need to take all possibilities a into account."
I can't believe this. "He's changed!" I yell at her, not being able to keep the anger away anymore.
I stand up. I need to go home. I call my mom, and she comes to pick me up.

It is Saturday. 3 o'clock. I'm at the movie theatre, waiting for Seth to show up. We are finally going on that date we talked about.
I see him get out of a car, and run over to him.
"Hi, babe" he says
"Stop calling me babe!" I say.
He laughs. We go in, and sit down in the middle.
"Can I ask you something?" I ask, turning my head to look at him.
"You sure can" he smiles.
"Have you noticed anything... different about Grace lately, has she... you know, been acting weird?"
"How am I supposed to know? I'm not friends with her, or anything."
"Yeah, well you're in the same class as her"
"So are you"
"I know, but I'm wondering if you noticed it too"
He pauses, thinking about what I just said. "She has been acting a bit weird lately, now that I think about it"
"What do you think it means?"
"Well, she's kinda acting like her parents are splitting up, or something like that"
"How do you know that? What make you think her parents are splitting up?"
He stops. He looks like he said something he didn't want to say. "Just a lucky guess" then he looks away. That was awkward.
