Chapter 5
"We're home!" Rebecca walked in cheekily. Daniel was sitting on the playing guitar while Zach was doing some vocal warm ups. Jonah was doing something on his phone and Corbyn was watching something on tv. Jack stormed in and mumbled something about his room and a shower.
"How was it?" Daniel asked noticing Jacks foul mood.
"I had fun, kinda." The boys all looked up. "I tell u about it later." She said to Daniel.
"Jacks kinda pissed right now so, just let him cool down like always." Rebecca said. She turned to Corbyn. "Let me take a Shower then can you help me?" He nodded and Rebecca ran up to her room.
Rebecca took a quick shower and changed back into the outfit she had been wearing that morning. She sat in her bed brushing her long unruly hair.
Rebecca jumped at a knock at the door. "You ready?" Corbyn said on the door.
"Sure, come in." Rebecca replied.
Corbyns head poked out from behind the door. Rebecca laughed and pulled out the study guide she printed for the final.
Corbyn sat down on the bed next to Rebecca. "So what do you need help with?"
"Everything" Rebecca laughed. Corbyn chuckled too.
"Here," he said pointing to the study guide. "Go through this and put stars next to the ones you need extra help on."
Rebecca nodded and started to scribble down answers the best she could.
After about 20 minutes, Rebecca sighed and handed Corbyn the paper.
He quickly looked through it. "Ok, so..." He dragged on. "What you know, you know well. The stuff you stared are easily mixed up, so it's totally understandable that you don't understand it right now."
Rebecca nodded her head. "So can you explain them to me?"
"Of course!" He smiled "a true nerd can answer any question about physics."
Rebecca laughed and fell back on the bed. Corbyn pulled out his phone and recorded SnapChat of her laughing, then he flipped the camera and made a confused face.
"Focus Becca!" Corbyn said laughing. Rebecca suddenly stopped laughing.
"Please don't do that." She said suddenly serious.
"Do what?" He said confused
"Call me Becca." Rebecca stood up and ran into the bathroom. The memories she had been working so hard to bury were coming to the surface.
Tears streamed down Rebecca's face. Thoughts of him flooded her mind, suffocating her.
Corbyn softly knocked on the door. "Rebecca?"
She wiped the tears from her eyes, "yeah, yeah I'm fine."
"Rebecca. You are sitting in your bathroom crying your eyes out. And I have no idea why! You are not fine." He said through the door.
"It's fine, just," She let out a shaky breath. "Just give me a minute."
Rebecca heard Corbyn sigh. She looked at herself in the mirror. Her normally bright eyes were puffy from crying and her face was all blotchy.
Putting on a brave face she unlocked the door of her bathroom. She was shocked to be in Corbyns arms a second later.
"Wanna talk about it?" He said quietly.
"Not now, maybe later." She said stubbornly.
"What if I took you to DQ?" Rebecca's eyes lit up at the idea of DQ ice cream.
"Ugg fine if we must." She said already feeling her mood lightening.
Corbyn chuckled and grabbed his jacket and wallet. "Let's go then."
Rebecca grinned and grabbed Corbyns WDW hoodie off the end of the bed.
They arrived at DQ a few minutes later. Rebecca ordered a cookie dough blizzard and Corbyn ordered a chocolate dipped cone. They sat down at a booth and ate their ice cream.
"So, are you going to tell me about what just happened?" Corbyn pried cautiously.
"Do I have to?" Rebecca said.
Corbyn pointed to her ice cream. Rebecca knew she couldn't keep this from Corbyn forever. But she wasn't ready for him to hear the whole story.
"OK," she started "it's my ex, he was the only person allowed to call me Becca. Let's just say he broke my heart in a way that took awhile be healed. He wasn't verbally or physically abusive,he actually very sweet and romantic, but something happened. I was mad. Like really mad. Did you notice those blank spaces on my wall of photos? Well those you speak pictures of either him or us. The day it all went down, I burned them hoping to get rid of the memories. But ever since then I can't bring myself to let anyone call me Becca. Only Jack and Daniel know about this. So I'm trying to keep it on the down low. All Jonah and Zach know is that I went through a rough relationship and not to call me Becca. You can call me Avery, Rie, Becs, just not Becca." She finished. She looked up at Corbyn who had sympathy in his eyes.
"Wow Rebecca I am so sorry." He said.
Rebecca laughed sarcastically. "You can't relate, you have your amazing girlfriend and perfect little relationship."
Corbyn blinked and looked down. "Actually..."
