Behind Rejection

Chapter 5

It was Howard.

"Uh, sorry if I didn't tell you this. I just don't have the courage but I hope you'll understand once you hear this song I composed"

I cried as I hear the song. It hurts me more realizing that he wants me but he has to chase his dreams and he gave up on me. He cried finishing the song and someone called him. It sounded familiar I heard the voice of the owner of the cafe scolding Howard which I made me lose hope more than ever. He puts the camera down and I heard it all.

"This is your consequences for being stubborn. I told you many times that you don't have to have that job. And now that girl distracted you, go pack your things so we can go to the airport early"

He lift the camera and said, 

"I know you wouldn't forgive me for this but I hope you'll understand why I did this. I just wanna let you know that it didn't work out but that was the most amazing memory I've had. Thank you for everything. I also hope that when we see each other again, you'll be happy just like when I first met you"

It breaks my heart but I guess this is for the better. I don't want to be the reason why he regretted not pursuing his dreams. It's not worth fighting for when he's the one who already gave up. '

I concluded that I have no match and I'm not worth fighting for. I felt like the woman from dramas. The family there always doubted their in-laws because of being poor or something. I never knew that would be true and I'd experience it. I mean they're rich. Why would even Howard work?

I was cleaning the table on the cafe and took my break. Raven talked to me while I was sitting and I spaced out.

"Hey, are you okay?" he asked

"Oh yeah"

"I guess the coffee got you spaced out?"

"Are you trying to make me laugh?"

"No, no one can make you laugh or smile except for this one guy"

"Tsh"

"Cheer up, everything's going to be brighter soon"

He went back. Suddenly 4 guys approached me,

"Excuse me, Luka right?"

"Y-yes?"

"Ahh, we're friends with Howard, remember? When he introduced you to us?"

"Oh, yes?"

"He wanted to give you this"

His friends gave me a gift.

"What's this?" I asked

"He said he wanted to give you that since you didn't go on a date even once"

"It doesn't matter"

"It does, 'cause he never does these things to someone before, he was awkward with girls and rarely approach them" the bulky guy who's friends with Howard said

"I thought he was gay until he introduced you, it was really amazing seeing him that happy" his other friend with pink hair added

I opened the gift and was shocked. I never told him my favorite flavor but he bought me a green tea flavor chocolate. It made me cry again but I controlled my emotions and went back to work.

"Thank you very much, you guys, study hard"

It's true that there is no permanent thing in this world. At first, I thought Taya was overreacting when she got rejected but now I know how it feels.
