Early Mornings

The sunlight peaked in through the white curtains in my room. I rolled over in my bed just to discover that it was seven in the morning.

"Great...." I said to myself in my hoarse morning voice.

I washed my face and put on my blue sundress, with cowboy boots. I brushed through my wavy brown hair and applied my makeup. I quietly descended down the stairs trying not to awake anyone, then I opened the front door to the morning air. The barn was just a few feet away and I figured that I would be doing a nice favor if I brushed the horses for grandpa.

I opened the large red doors and found myself surrounded by 4 horses.

"Hi sweet things!" I smiled at the horses. I grabbed a horse brush out of the supply bucket and headed towards a tall brown horse. The horse seemed somewhat familiar. I began to brush her long silky fur; it reminded me of my own horse.

"What do you think you're doing?" a voice with a Louisiana accent yelled at me

I turned my attention to all tall boy standing at the barn door. "Brushing my grandfather's horses...and you?" I asked sarcastically

"That was not a legitimate answer." He said with an angry look on his face

"Who do you think you are?" I asked raising my voice a little bit

He walked up to me and grabbed the brush from my hand, placing it back in the supply bucket.

"I'm the only one allowed to take care of the horses." he said aggresively

"Does the only one allowed to take care of the horses have a name?" I asked rudely

"It's Charlie. Now you better get going before Mr. Zachary yells at you for messing with his horses."

"I'm his grandaughter. He can't possibly yell at me." I said

"Does his grandaughter have a name?" Charlie asked imitating me

"Well, considering I'm not "good enough" to take care of the horses. It's not important. But, it's nice meeting you." I walked out of the barn and back to the mainhouse.

Nice meeting you? That was a lie....
