A New Team

"Attention officers!" a rather unexpectedly cheerful Chief King walked out of his office "As you know, I am retiring this month so a new Chief will have to take my place."

"I hate to say this but I'd rather have you yelling at me to get my "lazy ass" moving." Jones said

Ramirez, (of course the sensitive one) ran over to the Chief, crying. "Don't leave us!"

"I have to, Ramirez. So for now, meet your new Chief, Athena Morani." A medium skinned woman walked out, and Nathan was the first to speak.

"No. No no no no no! Please tell me you're joking, Chief!"

"Well, hello to you, too, Nathan." Athena rolled her eyes "Is that any way to greet an old friend?"

Jones, who had been staring her down the whole time, looked up immediately "Friend?" He turned to Nathan, "You two are friends and you never told me she existed?!" he whispered

"No, I didn't. Problem?"

"Yes! You're supposed to tell your friends you know hot girls!"

"Um, well, our history should stay history. Let's just leave it at that."

"Agreed." Athena added

Now Nathan was looking at her the way Jones had been a few minutes ago 'Damn it, why did I give her up?' he looked down at the floor 'Right, Harper. I don't really feel anything special with her though, just that we both like snakes and that's it. Maybe I should get back with Athena?'

"Regretting things already, Nathan?" Athena asked

"Sort of?" he ended the conversation

"Well, I can see that you already know our Coroner, so let me introduce you to the others. Grace is our Lab Chief, Ramirez is our night officer/security guard, Jones is the partner for any of our new recruits-"

"Hiiii!" Jones said dreamily

"I see." Athena stepped back

"Ahem, and Alex here, along with my granddaughter, Cathy occasionally are our tech support." The Chief finished, glaring at Jones.

"Got it."

"I'll go back to packing up." the Chief smiled

Ramirez chased after him "Can I help you?" he begged

The older man sighed "My wife was coming over to help, but I suppose."

"Samuel!" a woman's voice interrupted

"Ah, there you are, Donna. I was just-"

"Hey, how come she can interrupt you?!" Jones complained

"Because she's my wife!"

Jones grumbled something under his breath and Samuel rolled his eyes.

"What's up with him?" Donna asked

"Jealous."

"Really?"

"Well... reasons..."

"You need to start making full sentences again." Donna chuckled, kissing him on the cheek.

"I do not." Samuel blushed as the three left to finish cleaning out his office.

"So now that they're gone, could we learn a little more about this secret relationship of yours, Nathan?" Grace asked with a smirk

"Hey, you divorced your fiancé, what happened with him?" Nathan growled

"Reasons..."

"Now whose sounding like the Chief?" Everyone laughed, including Grace
