Patricia's POV
Everything after that moment was a blur. A massacre of a blur. I can barely remember getting out the taxi and I can't seem to remember anything other than blurred bodies and muffled voices. Mostly it was Mara in hysterics, Joy in stunned silence and Willow preaching for good vibes. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who sprang into useful motions. Even though I felt as if I would choke on my own saliva I still rang for help. I felt sick with tears as the blood ran from his now stone cold body. Nobody was sure I he would make it but hope was all we got. Although I was once told that hope breeds eternal misery I still believe there's a chance for him. Even if it's a small one. The paramedics were about as useful as a blue ten pound note. They told us nothing. We were left helpless as was he. The other boys seemed almost lost and two of them barely knew the casualty. I've known him for most of my life and we were never extremely close like myself and Alfie but I could talk to him about anything. Mara is still in hysterics. I've never seen her so upset, so broken. I suppose if Eddie or Adam was in this situation I would be hyperventilating and I would probably become suicidal. I want to understand what we is going through so that I can console her but I never want to be in this situation. Ever.
No one's POV
They all sat in a row in the French waiting room of the unpronounceable hospital. They were waiting to hear something, anything. Mara's cheeks hadn't been dry since she'd seen him covered in his own blood. Patricia had been sick four times and the nurses kept insisting on running a few tests to check nothing was majorly wrong but she would refuse saying 'My friend is dying and you want to run some tests because you saw my breakfast?'
They eventually backed off realising she was sick with worry. Literally. Nobody would tell them anything on his condition since they were not immediate family. Mara was beginning to become fed up with the excuse given.
"Excuse me but I was wondering if you could share some information on my husbands condition?" Mara asked, tears still traveling down her vampire pale cheeks. "Your his wife?" The nurse asked genuinely surprised. "Yes."
"Of course we can share information with you. The only other thing considered family is the other half. Ill take you to his room." Mara quickly, briefly explained to the others what was happening before scurrying down the hall after the red headed nurse. "He's not doing so good. One of his lungs has become partially blocked by some blood produced from the impact. He's awake but they don't think he'll make it through the night due to the trauma inflicted on his skull when hit with the truck. I'm so sorry" she said it with a deep layer of pity in her voice and it made more tears spurt from Mara's eyes. The small nurse hastily walked down the hallway before entering another room leaving Mara in front of his room.
Pushing the door slightly it opened and she stepped inside, closing the door behind her shaking figure. Her breath hitched at the sight before her. It was Mick but it wasn't at the same time. With tubes, wires and bandages for accessories didn't help the already emotionally damaged aura. "Hey" she
whispered with a painfully broken tone. "Mara?" he questioned mirroring her tone. His expression was so vunreble, she felt as if she could know everything about him from looking at his damaged state.
I'll never get to know everything about him.
She thought sadly as she took a seat in the vacant hospital chair. "How do you feel?" she asked gently, her maternal side taking over. "I'm dying, it's not the flu Mara" he said bitterly but slowly.
"Can we please not fight?" she says squeezing her eyes shut to prevent new tears. "I don't want to leave you" he whispers, attempting to reach for her hand. She instantly reaches forward and grabs it with her own. "I love you." she says sweetly kissing his forehead. "Can I please have one proper last kiss?" he asks trying but failing to create an unbroken smile. She quickly wiped at her eyes before leaning forward and pressing her lips gently to his cracked ones. It was sweet and simple yet it was filled with enough passion to last a life time. "You've made me a better person and I don't want you to forget that, ever. I will always love you." Mick says closing his eyes and inhaling deeply yet raggedly. "I need you here. With me. Please fight like hell to stay with me because this baby needs you and I need you." She says it sternly but her expression betrays her demeanour. Her hand comes to rest on her small baby bump. "Tell them as soon as you can. You need to tell them so that your not alone, okay?" he says weakly. His eyelids were drooping and his heartbeat was dropping. He was dying and she knew it. "Without you I will always feel alone" she said helplessly as salty tears dripped into her slightly open mouth. "I love-"
His monitor stopped beating. His arm fell limp at his side as his chest stopped moving. "No. No. No. No. No." she knew he was dead but she kept repeating the word as she pressed the button that called for help. She kept repeating it as she grabbed random nurses and thrust them towards the room in an attempt to save him. Once she stopped repeating the word she broke down. She lowered to the ground as she curled up against the wall.
That's how Patricia found her. Helpless, unfixable, broken.
"What's wrong? Is he okay? Mara please answer me!" she said worriedly as Mara stared vacantly at the white wall before her. "He's gone" she said hoarsely as the tears stopped. "What do you mean?"
"He's dead. He's gone. He's dead. He left me alone again. He promised he wouldn't but he broke his promise. He broke it"
