I felt a cold bucket of water poured onto me.
"AHHHH!" I shot out of bed and stood in a fighting stance punching the air. I soon heard a deep chuckle from behind me and turned to punch whoever it was, but my fist was blocked by a large hand. I growled at my attacker but stopped instantly when I saw it was my best friend Clapton Davis.
"Haha. you should have seen your face!" He said clutching his stomach. I yawned and moved to my bathroom, not bothering to insult him.
"What are you doing here?"
"Your mum told me to wake you up and tell you that she has pancakes." Immediately I rushed towards the door, but crashed into Clapton's chest. He smirked and folded his arms over his chest. "First, you need to get ready. Your hair looks like a lion's mane and you've got to put on more clothing." He pointed at my long, white shirt. I blushed and looked down, but glared at him.
"Did you just say my hair looks like lion's mane?" I pointed my finger at him. "Because I am pretty sure I look fine." I took a step closer to him. Clapton started to get scared, shooting his hands up and surrendering. I couldn't contain my laughter anymore, falling to the ground and clutching my stomach.
"You should have seen your face! That was hilarious" I say getting up and wiping away a tear.
i walked to my bathroom, staring in the mirror and gasped. Clapton didn't exaggerate when he said my hair looks like a lion's mane. I brushed the tangles and left my wavy, light brown hair out. I brushed my teeth and walked back to the bedroom, closing the door to change. I wore a white shirt, along with ripped jeans and combat boots. I placed on light make up and checked myself in the mirror.
I walked towards the kitchen, smelling the blueberry pancakes and grinned. Clapton was already sitting at the table, eating five pancakes at once and smiled at me. I grabbed a plate and started to shove the food in my mouth. Mom looked disgusted at me.
"Sometimes I worry about you. You need to be a lady Riles." She said while walking towards little Brady in his feeding chair. I rolled my eyes and turned towards Clapton.
"Are we taking your skateboard?"
"It's just outside. We'll go when we finish."
After we finished eating, I leaned back and rubbed my stomach. Clapton looked at me weirdly, but snapped out of it when mom ushered us out of the door.
"Thank you for the pancakes Mrs. Jones"
"Please, call me Nina. I feel so old with you calling me that. Besides we're basically family, with you practically living here."
It's true. Ever since we were five years old, Clapton would come over from next door and sleep in my room. At first my mom disapproved, but when she figured out she wouldn't be able to separate us, she eventually accepted him. Ashley, Clapton's mum loved me from the very beginning, begging me to come over and keep Clapton in line.
We went outside and I stood on Clapton's skateboard, waiting for him to hop up behind me. Soon he started to push his feet against the road, travelling towards school: the worst place in history. I groaned when the school was in sight while Clapton just laughed and made us go faster. I squealed and gripped his arms. The skateboard stopped just in front of the school, but no one seemed to see us, or in other words, no one was screaming for Clapton Davis to give them a handshake.
I turned my head, smiling and looking into his eyes. My smile faded and our gazes locked. He leaned down and looked at my lips. Suddenly we heard a beep and loud music pumping, I jumped off the skateboard and looked away from Clapton.
"Hey you! get out of the way! i'm driving here" An annoying voice yelled. It was Ione Foster, a preppy cheerleader with a 1900s obsession, which no one really understands why. She was labelled as the hottest chick in the school, but a brain the size of a chickpea.
"uh thanks for the ride, I'll see you in the afternoon." I say before rushing off through the front gates and into the school. I glanced back at Clapton, to see him talking to Ione before looking over her shoulder and stare at me. I shook my head, walking into my first class...Chemistry.
After seven hours of torture, school was finished. It seemed that Clapton avoided me the whole day, turning in the opposite direction whenever he saw me. I shoved my books in my locker and walked outside to the front of the gates, waiting for Clapton. I waited for a couple of minutes before I became worried. I looked around searching for Clapton, but he wasn't there. There were only a few people left at school, hugging and saying goodbye. I didn't have a good feeling and it was starting to get dark. I finally understood what was happening... he was ditching me.
I couldn't believe he ditched me! He could have told me that he wouldn't be riding me back to my house! I closed my eyes, trying to control my anger before I heard part of a conversation.
"Oh my gosh I can't believe it"
"I know I couldn't believe it at first. But hey he looks like he can beat up Nolan."
"i don't think so. Ione's ex-boyfriend could pick him up and throw him over the Eiffel Tower!"
"Well now that Clapton is dating Ione, we will have to see who wins the fight."
The girls giggled and walked away to their bikes before riding off into the direction of the mall. UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE!! Clapton ditched me for that bitch of a chick! I couldn't contain my anger any longer. I stormed off towards my house, clenching my fists.
Of course Clapton has pissed me off before, but now he has finally done the unforgivable...
He's dating Ione Foster.
