39 | "six months"

REAL LIFE

rosario never, in a million years, thought she would feel this way; so deeply and helplessly in love with someone.

back in the summer of 2015 when rosario agreed to being aaron's fake girlfriend, because he thought his parents were starting to know his secret, rosie didn't think that much into it, she just thought that she was doing something good for her best friend; which she was.

and everything was going fine for the fake couple, until stranger things season 3 came about which brought along a guy by the name of joe keery. and along with him brought a bunch of craziness to her life, however, rosie could honestly say she didn't regret it at all. somethings that happened she wished she could change, but she would never want to erase any of it from happening.

the past eight months of her life consisted of many whirlwinds, but in everything that happened, rosie saw one constant, a good constant, that being joe.

it was in that moment that rosie decided to say the words, "i love you," to him.

the pair were laying in the bed of joe's childhood bedroom. joe's hands were playing in the girl's hair as her head lay on his chest listening to the soft and steady 'thump thump' of his heart. it had been about four weeks since rosie decided to go to massachusetts with joe and even though it wasn't her home, just laying there with him felt as if it was.

when rosie said those three significant words joe stopped his hand movements in rosie's hair and sat up a bit in the bed. he took a pause before saying something to his girlfriend; which was, "what?"

rosie then sat up too, crossing her legs and began to play with a loose string on her, well joe's, hoodie she was wearing. "dang it. i just made things super awkward didn't i?"

joe immediately shook his head at the girl. "no, no. i just didn't hear what you said. well, i think i heard what you said, but i don't think what i heard is right."

"i think you probably heard right." rosie smiled smally and looked up at joe. "i said, 'i love you.'"

a wide grin broke out on joe's face upon hearing those words. "i love you too, rio," he responded and pulled her toward him so that he could kiss her, which rosie responded by easily meeting her lips with his.

after about a minute joe pulled away to say something. "what i'm about to ask you might sound pretty abrupt and random, but trust me i've actually been thinking about this for a while now and i think this could be a good thing for us."

joe took a quick pause before continuing, leaving rosie very curious about what he was about to say.

"rio, i think we should move in together. and it doesn't have to be now, but just eventually. maybe we can do it in six months because that's when–"

"our one year anniversary is," rosario finished for him, smiling a bit. "i want us to move in together too, joey. and i think six months from now would be a good time to do it."

joe smiled back at the girl. "so, it's settled. six months. you and me."

"six months," rosie nodded in agreement and gave joe a quick kiss on the cheek. "i can't wait."
