The One

I borrowed my dads car that night to pick up her sponsor. It was a really nice house in Houston. I knocked on the door and a girl came out. She was dressed very nice like she had money.

"Hi, I'm Alina Baraz" says the girl giving me her hand.

"Kehlani" I say. "So where are we going?"

"On vacation" says Alina with a smile.

I open the door for her and make my way over to the driver side.

"You're the drug dealers daughter?" asks Alina.

"Yeah, Demi told you that?" I ask.

"She tells me everything and I tell her everything too," says Alina. "she really likes you."

"Oh, I didn't notice." I say blushing a little.

"Its because your brain is in your pants, sweety" says Alina tapping my leg.

We drove for an hour before we got to this nice ass loft in the city.

"Can you grab my bag? I'm going to check on Demi." says Alina.

"Ok" I say getting out of the car.

As I head inside I hear Alina and Demi yelling at each other.

"Bitch, you will do what the fuck I say," says Alina. "sit your ass down right here."

"Where is Kehlani?" says Demi getting in Alinas face.

"I'm here" I say.

I see Alina lean in towards Demi's ear.

"I'm sure you don't want her to see you like this," whispers Alina. "let's just detox and get you out of here."

I see Demi look over at me then back at Alina.

"Ok" says Demi.

"Kehlani, you can settle in the room in the back." says Alina.

"Um, ok" I say.

I had to call my parents and let them know where I am. I couldn't have said that out loud, Alina would have fried me.

"I'm gonna head back there" I say going to the back.

"Detox shake" says Alina with a smile running to the kitchen.

"I really don't like those Lina" says Demi peaking her head over the sofa.

"Haha you say that like I care." says Alina from the kitchen.

"You know what I really don't like? The fact that you're still with Kent and that little baby borrowed her daddy's car to come out here with you."

"She's not a little baby and why does everyone think I like her?" says Demi.

"When you say everyone you mean me and your cokehead boyfriend" says Alina starting the blinder.

"That is really fucking loud" says Demi covering her ears.

"Sorry" says Alina stopping it and smiling. "Come here, little baby."

"Me?" I say looking around.

"You're the only little baby.." says Alina cutting her eyes at me.

"Ok" I say walking towards the kitchen.

"Taste this" says Alina scooping some of the milkshake out with her finger and putting it in my mouth.

"Mmm" I say closing my eyes. "That's really good."

I could feel Demi looking at me. It was like that heat you get on the back of your neck when the cops turn their lights on behind you.

"Thanks" says Alina biting her lip.
