She walked in the door
Tentative
Scared
But she was welcomed by a swarm of friends
Asking questions
Catching up
Sit down, she thinks
Just watch the show
And she tried
God, she really did try
But when it came to you
No longer was she watching
You introduced yourself
And started to play
Just you and your guitar up on that stage
And she slipped back into memory
Eyes peeled but mind far away
She gazed upon you with passion
A lifetime of love pooled up in her eyes
But her mind slipped away
To places she should not go
She remembered when everything was good
And a tear came to her eye
As she watched you
So passionate
So gentle
Quiet but overflowing with the music you played
You struck your final chord
And she continued to stare
And though the crowd clapped
She could hear nothing
Because you looked her in the eye
Just a glimpse, nothing more
But it caught her
And suddenly she was lost in the depths of your eyes
Like nothing else existed
Not even her
