Agraba Romance

"Here's the golden ball you wanted," Yume said as she gave Yurika the circular peice of gold.

"Thank goodness! I've been wanting this since the first grade," Yurika said in almost a whisper. "Ahem - thank you, and as promised you may pass," Yurika's vampires stepped out of the way, allowing Yume and Subaru to pass. "Oh, and Mad Hatter, nice look, did you get a hair cut?" The vampires laughed and the two just walked away.

"Don't listen to them," Yume told her friend

"But look at me!" Subaru cried in his beastly voice "I have fur everywhere! My finger nails are like knives! Look when happened to me when I had a scratch on my shoulder earlier!" The furry hatter showed Yume the bloody scratch he had accidentally made earlier. She grimaced. 

"I told you, we could always go back and ask Nozomu to kiss you," she said

"EW! NO! GROSS! Just ... ugh ..." Subaru shuttered

"Well we have to do something, unless you want to be a ... a ... I don't even know,"

"A beast, tomato. I am a huge, ugly, beast!"

"Oh come on," said Yume "True beauty is found on the inside!"

"That may work for you, but I was one of the beautiful people!" He huffed "You just don't understand what it's like to be labeled based on your looks!" 

Yume opened her mouth to say something when suddenly Subaru let out a loud gasp which sounded very similar to a loud animal grunt. "I just remembered!" he said "Agraba has a princess, Princess Sora!"

"So you think she can kiss away your curse?" Yume asked

"Of course she can! A kiss of a royal can break the curse, right? And she is a honest to goodness princess! I'm saved!" The Mad Hatter jumped up with joy and shook the ground intensely. "Sorry,"

Then his top hat started to slip off, Subaru grabbed it but noticed it started to tear up a bit. He let go and it fell to the ground. "You sure do love that hat," said Yume

"Could you ... could you hold onto it?" Subaru asked sheepishly "I'd do it myself but I don't want to break it,"

"Of course! I've always wanted to wear it -"

"No, no, no! Don't wear it! Just hold it!" Subaru told her, his extra deep voice frightening her even more.

"Okay, okay," she said "I won't wear it. But can I reach into it? you know, grab some sort of magical item from inside?"

"You can try," he said

Yume grinned and reached her hand into the the hat. To her surprise, she hit the bottom (or is it the top?). "What? Where is everything? The candy, the microphone, where ... what ... huh?"

"Only a truly mad person can take something out of that hat," Subaru said with a chuckle

"Oh well," Yume sighed "At least I know I'm sain,"

"Sain people are boring," Subaru commented before adding "Come on! Agraba is only a few hops of the mad hare! Let's go!"

If Yume was told sooner, she would have prepared herself. For what Subaru had failed to tell her was that Agraba was a kingdom SMACK in the middle of a large hot dessert. Yume was dying, hoping she'd go mad soon so she could take a water bottle or well out of the hat.

And poor Subaru, with all his extra body hair, was sweating so much and panting (this action only made him more upset). "What kind of animal am I?" he wondered aloud in his booming voice.

"Are ... you ... sure ... you can't ... get ... water ... from ... your ... hat?" Yume panted as she trudged up the sand.

"My paw ... is to ... big," he told her

"I can't ... wait ... for ... when ... you ... get ... that ... kiss,"

After a few more minutes of walking, dumping the sand out of their - sorry - Yume's shoes, finally, they spotted something.

"It's Agraba!" Subaru said with joy "We made it Tomato!"

"YES! WE'RE -" Before Yume could finish, Subaru dashed off on all fours at incredible speed. Much faster then normal. "(whoa) Hey! Wait up!"

"About time, Tomato," Subaru said as Yume finally caught up with him at the city's edge. "What took you so long?"

"What took me - You're the one who dashed off like that!" Yume argued

"Dashed off? No, that was barley anything,"

"At the speed you were making," Yume said with a huff. Then she started thinking "What if it has something to do with your new body?" she asked

"Well I never met a beast before," said Subaru "Unless meeting myself counts, but how do you meet yourself? Do you have to look in a mirror? Cause I have a looking glass back in Wonderland and -"

"Hatter!" Yume interrupted "It was a yes or no question, and you have answered with neither of those words,"

"Oh, whoops!" Subaru just shrugged and Yume sighed.

"So where do we find this princess?" she asked

"At her castle! Silly question," he replied with a chuckle "I know the way, we can cut right through town and -"

"The center of town?" Yume cried

"Will you let me end any conversation after and?"

"Subaru, I think you might be a bit too much of a .. an eye catch," she said in her nicest way possible.

"You mean because I'm a beast everyone will point and laugh at me?" Subaru said sadly

"Well I would say laugh, I was thinking more of scream of fear,"

The poor hatter sighed and sat down with a thud. "But I don't know what else to do,"

Yume tried to think of a way to get to the castle, but she had never been here before, she couldn't know how to get anywhere.

"--just taking these up to the palace," she heard someone say

"Huh?"

"I didn't say anything," said Subaru

"Shh!" Yume hissed so she could listen more

"Yeah, their royal highnesses' are going to love this fruits, freshly picked! Nothing less!" said the voice "I just need to get some jugs of water for myself for the trip and then I'm off,"

"Did you hear that?" Yume asked

Subaru nodded "These ears help a lot you know,"

"Then come on! I have a plan!"

Yume's plan had come at a terrible price. It was very unconformable to be so close to warm fur under a hot blanket in the burning kingdom of Agraba, but Subaru didn't like how close she was to him.

Still, they were undetected, and that was nothing short of wonderful! Subaru would somehow get that princess to kiss him! They'll be on their way back to Ice Flower! Then she can finally be home!

Along the way, Yume actually fell asleep. Subaru's fur was she so soft, and the ride was a pleasant amount of bumpy. She couldn't help it!

She dreamed she was back home, or maybe it was back at Wonderland, where she was starring at the moon! Or maybe three moons.

Before Yume could think more about this dream she woke up with a large jolt at a loud voice booming "Get up! I am to take you to the king!" and it wasn't Subaru.
