Yume and Subaru were surrounded by palace guards as they were taken through the palace and to the throne room where the king and his daughter were sitting on their fancy chair.
"WHAT BY ALA'S NAME IS THIS!?!" cried King Kazesawa "Some street urchin and a monster?"
"Hey," Subaru snapped in practically a mumble
"What business do you have, stealing my fruit?"
"We were trying to steal your food, your highness," said Yume "We were looking for the Princess Sora!"

"Me? What do you want with me?" Princess Sora asked nervously, her eyes darting back and forth between the girl and the beast.
"Well, I came to ask you to kiss me," said Subaru
"WHAT!?!" The two royals cried
"I will not have my daughter exchange spit with the lights of you!" King Kazesawa cried, horrified.
"But he was cursed!" Yume cried "He fell into a well of dark magic and was cursed to look like this! A kiss from a princess should break the curse,"
"B-b-but ..." Sora stammered "But I don't want to kiss him!"
"But I heard you kissed the eye-socket of a blinded man!" said Subaru
"Oh that poor soul," Sora sighed, her eyes filling with tears
"I would rather have my beautiful flower kiss the rear of a jackass!" said the king
"Ew," They all said
"But he doesn't want to be like this!" said Yume "The hot sun makes him so much heavier! He has all this extra weight! And he can't wear his favorite hat!" Yume showed them the Mad Hatter's top hat.
"Guards, confiscate the headgear," the king ordered
"No!" Subaru cried as a guard snatched the hat out of Yume's hand. "Give me back my hat!" he roared, more guard surrounded him.
"Stop! Please!" Yume cried "He's harmless, merely a kind hatter!"
"As in the mad hatter?" Sora asked
"Yes!"
"I think you're all mad," King Kazesawa mumbled. "Of what kind of dastardly deed, would you want my daughter to kiss this beast?" They had no reply, Yume turned to Subaru sadly in silence. "Guards! Lock these two in the dungeon!"
"No! Wait!" Subaru boomed "We didn't do anything wrong!"
"And asking for a kiss is not against the law!" said Yume
"It is if you want anybody to kiss that thing!"
This comment hurt both Subaru and Yume. "How can you say that?" Yume asked "He's kind, and weird, and funny, and he is NOT A MONSTER! With all do respect your highness -" Then Yume stuck out her tongue, everyone gasped. "So lock us away - fine! But at least we'll be locked away knowing we did nothing while you can live with your guilt!"
