Jacob POV
Finally, time for the battle. The whole pack's itching to get their claws into some vampire flesh. Edward had been guilted by Bella into staying with her far away from the fighting. Sam had asked Seth to be there in case more than one vampire attacked. Which would probably happen. The newborns poured into the field we had selected, meeting the Cullens head on. Sam gave the order and the pack charged in. I leaped over Rosalie, killing my first vampire for the battle. Draco had made a competition, whoever killed the most vampires got an entire cake to themselves and his cakes were delicious. I was going to win this contest. Unfortunately, there were only twenty newborns and with the six Cullens here plus the eight wolves there were just six vampires to go around after everyone killed one. I would just have to hamper Rosalie's attempts to kill one by killing it myself. This seemed to be a common idea among the pack. Embry was stealing from Carlisle, who was laughing at him. Paul was stealing kills from Emmett, who looked ready to lose it. Jarred was stealing from Esme, who laughed and played weak so he would get more kills. Maybe I should've picked Esme. Sam was targeting the newborns around Alice, who kept screaming at him not to get his scent on her. And Quil was interrupting Jasper's fights. Most of the vampires seemed to take it as a challenge, or find it amusing. In fact, only Alice seemed to have a problem with us killing vampires before they had a chance to strike. Emmett just took it as a friendly challenge and had taken to shoving Paul away when he went in to cut him off. I hope Seth's not bored out of his mind. Probably not.

Seth POV
I was reading my pack's view of the battle when I smelled Victoria. Apparantly she decided that Bella was worth a ripped off leg. I saw her launch herself from the vampire who was carrying her Riley, I think arms at Bella but I leaped pining her and ripping her head off I heard Riley leap for me then. Edward wasn't even helping! I grabbed Victoria's body and swung it in the way of Riley, shattering it. This move also sent cracks running up and down Riley's chest, slowing him down. But, when I tossed what was left of Victoria's body aside it hit Bella. Of course it did. I ignored her shrieking as she attempted to move the corpse away from her. I focused on Riley and he was dead before he could blink. I spun around to see if Bella was okay, only to find Edward glaring at me like I'd killed her! Which I obviously hadn't seeing as she only had a sprained ankle and wrist.
"How dare you hurt her!" He screamed at me. I opened my Occulemency doors to berate him.
"If you had helped me then maybe we wouldn't be having this conversation!" He scowled and left. Moving down the mountain as quickly as he could, I decided to follow in case he was attacked. He just waltzed into the clearing where we were still fighting! What an idiot! He says he cares about Bella, but he just carried her into a battle with blood crazed newborns. Ugh, if he weren't a vegetarian we would have killed him by now. I watch as a vampire manages to break free from Quil and race for Bella. Leah takes it down hard, when it tries to wrap it's arms around her Hermione runs in throwing the vampire to the ground away from Bella and Leah. She holds it down and Leah comes in with a roll. Destroying the last newborn. Edward and Bella just watch in shock, the rest of the Cullens except Alice at least ran forward to help. But Edward? He's damn useless!
"The Volturi are coming." Jasper warned, having felt their emotions. It was too late for the pack to leave. Instead, we covered Hermione's scent with our own by surrounding her. Why didn't Alice tell us the Volturi were coming?

Demitri POV
We walked into the clearing. I immediately noticed the disgusting smell of wolf all over the clearing, and on most of the newborns bodies, as the Cullens burned them on a bonfire.
"Well, well, well. What are they doing here?" Jane asked in a falsely sweet voice.
"They helped us destroy the newborns and were leaving when you arrived." Carlisle answered frankly.
"Really, and why were mutts needed?"
"Six on twenty is a massacre. Fourteen on twenty is more even. Added to the fact the newborns didn't know that the wolves existed. We needed their help to survive."
"Good enough answer." Jane said.
"Now send them away!" She commanded. The earth seemed to tremble after her words as if something was angry. I took a deep breath and caught. THE FEMALE TEEN'S SCENT!!
