Jason set his bags down in the guest room as he sighed. He had been sighing too much in the last few days he thought to himself. He sank down onto the bed and thanked the stars that he had Tyler and Mon as friends. Maybe tomorrow he would be able to face the rest of his life. He curled up in the blankets and fell asleep even though it was just mid afternoon.
Groaning he stood up and stretched as he looked out the window to see the dawn. Today he had to face reality, and go back to work. Taking a deep breath he went about the task of finding his suit amongst the bags so he could get ready. After about an hour he had everything found and a train wreck of a room, grumbling he went to take his shower.
When he finally arrived downstairs he was greeted with a plate of eggs, bacon, and toast. Next to the plate there was a noteHey crazy,
Knowing you, you are probably getting ready to leave for work. Well fucking stop and eat breakfast fool. Ain't anybody gonna fire the boss. Now get yo shit together. Eat and don't worry about any messes you make you know we love you fool.
Mon & TySmiling Jason sat down and ate like he was told to before getting in his car to head to the office.
Arriving at work Jason stared up at the building, it was breathtaking. 40 floors of concrete, metal, and glass shining in the morning light. It was his greatest achievement, his pride and joy, and it was filled with his blood and sweat. Everything from magazines, travel and architecture was crammed into the building and he knew almost every aspect that happened in it.
LIVING DREAMS INC.
(If this company is real I own no part and this is just fantasy)(Jason's pov)
Slowly I got out of my car and made my way into the building with a small smile on my face. After the necessary pleasantries, and checking in on departments in the building, I arrived to the 40th floor. My sanctuary awaits, I thought. Once the elevator opened I was greeted with the sight of the quaint waiting area, couches and chairs in an appealing design surrounded a long table plants surrounded the walls, and their was a refreshment area with coffee and muffins. I love muffins was my only thought as I plucked one out of the basket.
Walking past that I nodded to Trixie my assistant, she was at her desk always working, always on time. She just laughed at me with the muffin hanging out of my mouth as i tried to unlock my door. It was just me and her up here at the top, it was a good way to minimize distractions and not get judged for my outbursts. Finally I opened the door and sat at my desk relishing in mu chocolate muffin.
"Hey Hun, I thought your trip was gonna last a couple more days, so your schedule is actually clear for today." Trixies voice floated in from the door.
I loved this woman, she was in her 50's, gray stripes thru her dark brown hair, that was always up in a professional bun. She stood at 5'5 and gave off a motherly aura, until you upset her then her piercing gray eyes would rip your soul to pieces.
"Sorry Trix," I said as I rubbed the back of my neck. " I had actually finished a few days ago and came home early to surprise Megan with a romantic dinner."
"And how did that go?"
"Not well, I'm afraid."
Trixie came in and sat on my sofa, leveling me with a scorching look. " Why not?" I could hear the curiosity but also the no nonsense tone.
"Ugh, well," I buried my face in my hands " I found her having an affair with Terrence."
"Terrence? As in mail room Terrence or close friend Terrence?"
"The latter." I mumbled, then throwing my head back I sighed. "I didn't even say anything I just left. They didn't even know I had come home."
"Here Hun, have another muffin, and I will try to find something to fill your time... I know its hard and it won't get better for a while, but try not to work yourself to death again. Try to relax a little."
I grabbed the muffin like a child and grunted at Trixie, she knew me too well. After that she left the room and tried to find me something to do.
True to her word however Trixie had me piled with paperwork in just a few hours. Mostly small things that wouldn't normally go passed any of the department heads, but it kept my mind off Megan. The problem with being so good at setting up a business is once your done, you run out of things to do. The company was like a living breathing organism and I had just become the face. It was completely self sufficient and for that I was proud.
Slowly working thru the work order forms for new copiers and light bulbs and such, I began to wonder when I had become so unnecessary in my own life. Neither my company nor my fiancee truly needed me, I was just a face to show. After signing off on the paper I glanced at the clock. It was after two. Time for lunch.
Grabbing my wallet I walked out the door just in time to see Trixie come back with her lunch. Nodding I passed her to get to the elevator and begin my decent to the lobby. I was pretty relaxed about the rules of the building, everyone got a paid lunch what they did with it or when they took it didn't matter to me as long as the work got done. Once out of the building I just started walking, I figured my nose might find something delicious to fill my stomach.
Following my nose ended in subway and brownies. Lucky for me the bakery was across the street from the subway. I've always had a major sweet tooth and this heartache just brought it to the surface. Now just to find a spot to eat my conquests. Looking around I spotted a park and grinned to myself. Shit yeah after eating I'm gonna hit up the swings.
Sitting at a table I opened my sandwich and brownies.
I got about three bites in before I was assaulted by a large furry blur.
