Abigail's POV
The bus has arrived at school.
As the other students are busy taking their bags and rushed in to the school, I tried woke Heidi up. But as I shook her shoulder, I saw someone carrying a little girl running towards the big tree, looks like they're hiding. Me being myself, followed my guts to get curious. Leaving Heidi behind without saying a word.
I quickly walked out of the bus, forgetting about Heidi, which god knows if she's up or not.
I jogged and I found him starts walking. I can tell it's Nathan. As I approached him, he walks even faster.
"Nathan!" I called him as i gave up and stopped my track. But I think he didn't hear me, he kept on walking.
"Nathan, stop!" I called him a little louder. I'm pretty sure he heard me this time. There's no way he did not.
What is he? Deaf, now?
"Nathan please, stop!" I yelled at him for one last time. He stopped and now he's facing me.
"Where are you going?" I asked him, gesturing to him. But then he turned back and starts walking away.
So I quickly found something to make him stop and talk to me. "Why aren't you wearing your uniform?"
But he kept on ignoring me, "Why are you leaving!" I tried to get his attention.
He's still ignoring me! What the heck? "Why are you avoiding me now!"
I don't know why i'm yelling, but I'm just trying to talk to him. I'm a bit worried, to be honest.
"Nathan!" I screamed a little louder as he's now pretty far away from me.
Then he turned back to face me, "I'm not! Okay! I'm not!" He paused.
"I'm not avoiding you and I'm not going to talk to you right now! I can't." He took a step back, still facing me.
"Then why are you leaving?"
"I- i just have to go home, to- I- i can't stay any longer." He stumbled at his words.
"You- just go inside! You'll be late!" He add as he turned and walked away.
Why did he went to school if he just wanna go home?
"I'll be at your door when school's over!" I yelled from the distance, hope he heard me. I don't even know what I'm saying, it just popped out in my head.
What?
.
After the school ends, I went to the principal office to find Mrs. Beth. I assume she must know something about Nathan.
She's the best teacher ever, she mingles with us so well. We love her, so it's not always a bad thing that the students walks in and out of her office.
"Excuse me, ma'am." I politely said as i enter her office.
"Need something, abbs?" She smiled, looking up from her phone. She found out that some people calls me by that, and she starts calling me abbs since then.
"Yes ma'am, actually there is. I saw Nathan with his baby sister leaving this school earlier this morning. I tried to talk to him, but he said that he had to go home and that he can't stay any longer. Thats so odd. Do you have any idea why?" I asked her after she gestured to the chair, telling me to sit.
"Well, i guess you have to find out on your own." She smiled at me while stacking some paper together.
When I'm just about to speak she cut me off. "Here, take this. Go to his house, give him this, and ask your questions to him on your own." She winked.
