Chapter 20

Shannon POV

I was heading to Texas to visit my mum, it was her birthday and my sister and I decided to surprise her. Cammie wasn't able to come as she had a work commitment which was actually perfect. I was going to go 2 days earlier and I was actually going to stop over at Pittsburgh. The thing is I wasn't going to tell Cammie that I was heading to Pittsburgh.

Cammie had dropped me off at the airport, I was only going 7 days, 2 of those days spent in Pittsburgh. I had called Sandy ahead of time and let her know and asked to please not tell Cammie about anything, she had hesitantly agreed to do so.

When I arrived in Pittsburgh, Sandy came to pick me up. We drove to their house and I settled in. I had arranged for us all to have lunch at this local restaurant we would always go to with Cammie.

I was so nervous to be having this conversation with them and honestly I didn't know how they would take it.

"I know you guys are probably surprised that I came here and asked you not to tell Cammie" I began

They both nodded

"I just wanted to ask for your blessing. I want to propose to Cammie" I said nervously

Sandy threw her hands over her face and a smiled beamed across her face. Cammies dad was over the moon.

"Of course! Of course you have our blessing! Let's just hope she says yes!" Cammies dad said

Which made me laugh nervously.

"Oh Shannon! I'm so happy! Of course she's going to say yes!" Sandy chimed in

They both proceeded to hugging me and congratulating me.

"Where are you planning on doing it?" Sandy asked.

"I've actually planned a big surprise for her, for our anniversary I'm taking her to Peru" I said

"Oh my, you are very romantic! That's going to be spectacular!" Sandy said

Present

I had been so nervous the whole morning, I had bought the ring about 2 weeks ago and I hadn't thought about where I was going to hide it. It was small but I felt like it could be seen no matter what pocket I put it in.

I knew exactly where I was going to do it, and I knew she'd love it. As we got closer to the spot, I got more and more nervous. She stopped at a rock and sat on it and she started looking out on to the scenery and I couldn't help but think how lucky I was to have her in my life. I started taking pictures of her, I loved to take pictures of her. Before my Instagram had more pictures of her than me.

We walked towards where I was going to do it, there wasn't many people there which was good and once we got there they walked away, just the two of us. I set up a camera on the side, I wasn't a YouTuber if I didn't.

I told her to sit by the edge and look out on to The Valley so I could take pictures. But really I wanted to prepare for the big surprise.

I took out the ring and went down on one knee right behind her.

"Cammie?" I said. She turned around and her eyes slowly shifted from my face to the ring and a smile beamed across her face.

"Camden Mary-Alise Scott, you have made me the happiest person alive, I love you today, I loved you yesterday and everyday since I met you and I will love you always. I lost you once and I refuse to do that again. Will you marry me?" I said nervously.

She covered her face with her hands and started crying happy tears.

"Yes! Of course I will!" She said. I beamed with happiness and out the ring on her finger.

We both got up and I leaned in to kiss her and hug her.

I was engaged! I was bloody engaged to my best friend.

Cammie POV

So Shannon went and proposed to me!! The excitement was unreal. It was something that had come across my mind and we had actually discussed it a bit but I had no idea she would propose. I knew we were ready, it was like we had un-paused our relationship when we got back together so this was the logical next step.

When we got back to the hotel we called our parents.

"Mum! Guess what?" I said enthusiastically

"What Cam?" She replied

"Shannon proposed to me!" I replied just as enthusiastically

"Oh sweetly that's amazing! You're getting married!" She said. She didn't seem surprised at all more like she was expecting it

"Did you already know Mum?" I asked

"Yeah!" She giggled. "Shannon came to ask for our blessing a few weeks back. It was so hard keeping it from you but I'm so happy for you guys!" She said.

"Shan! You've been planning this for a while. You so sneaky!" I said and slapped her arm.

I finished talking to my parents and we called Debbie.

"Hey mum!" Shannon said. "She said yes! Came said yes!" She told Debbie.

"I said yes Deb!" I said

"Congratulation girls! That's amazing! Welcome to the family Cam!" Debbie said.

We finished up the conversation and were looking through the pictures we had taken. We each posted a picture on Instagram letting everyone know that we were engaged.

"She said yes! And now I'm the happiest girl alive #nowTHISisliving"

Shannon wrote on her Instagram page.

"I am marrying my best friend and I couldn't be happier!" Is what I wrote and the internet went absolutely crazy! The amount of comments and likes in the first 5 minutes was emotional.

As we laid in bed together cuddling I couldn't help but think how lucky I was. I loved Shannon and we were actually going to get married!
