Her ruby red hair glistened like the sun.
When she ran it flowed behind her like a sea of fire.
It was so wild.

Images of red fluttered in my memory.
I remember how it smelt, oh how I remember how her hair
smelt of fresh summer berries.
Her presence illuminated anyroom like the sun.
It filled every corner just like oxygen.
She was like my oxygen.
I loved her.

She set a fire in my heart and I was ablaze with happiness.

But then one night the fire became literal.
It was quick and raging.
One mistake, one neglected candle and everything fell apart.
Suddenly all we could see was red.
Suddenly we were incased in a sea of fire and we couldn't get out.

Images of red fluttered everywhere.
I couldn't comprehend the danger we were in.
I remember how it smelt, oh how I remember how the smoke filled my lungs.
The flames ate away at every room, every corner.
The oxygen was kicked out and she was choking.
We tried to get out, but we were trapped.
We tried to get out, but we were trapped.
We tried to get out, but we were trapped.

I held her in my arms knowing that this was the end.
Gasping for air she whispered,"I love you".
Then she closed her eyes and fell into my arms.
"I love you"

Tears streamed down my sizzling cheeks.
SHE LAYED STILL IN MY ARMS BECAUSE I COULDN'T SAVE HER!
She set a fire in my heart and I was blazing with anger.
SHE LAYED STILL IN MY ARMS BECAUSE I COULDN'T SAVE HER.

The air got thicker.
I didn't know what would kill me first the smoke or the fact that I'd lost her.
All that surrounded me was red, but I was a black hole inside.
The smoke suffocated me but that pain was easier to deal with then living another day without her.

I held her close for the last time.
No longer did she smell of berries.
No longer was she Esmeralda.
She was just a corpse.
I hate red.

All I breathed was ash and smoke.
One mistake, one neglected candle and everything fell apart.
All I could see was red.
I was incased in a sea of fire and I couldn't get out.
And I didn't want to.
Not without her.

My skin was broiling.
But I felt numb.
My lungs were flaccid.
But I felt numb.
My heart was burnt to ash.
And I was numb.

Then suddenly everything went black.
Next thing I knew strong arms pulled me out.
The air was cooler.
Help came.
But not quick enough.
I opened my eyes to see a fiery demon devouring my home.
Or what used to be our home.
Now it was just a giant bonfire.

Above all the vague muttering I heard someone say," we couldn't save the girl".

My skin wasn't broiling anymore.
But I felt numb.
My lungs weren't flaccid anymore.
But I felt numb.
My heart was nothing but ash.
And I was numb.
I felt like a corpse.
Empty.

"How are you feeling", someone asked?

"We tried to get out, but we were trapped."
"We tried to get out, but we were trapped."
"We tried to get out, but we were trapped."
