Class started and the teacher went on and on about something that happened years ago. I was supposed to be paying attention but Cameron kept tapping me on the shoulder, causing me to turn around and not listen. My teacher eventually saw me turn around to look at Cameron.

"Excuse me, Emily", she said. "Is Cameron more interesting then my lesson?" I started to smirk. She really didn't want me to answer that. "Well...tell us what's so important about Cameron. Why is he making you turn around constantly?"

"Well you see", I started to explain. She didn't let me finish.

"Nonsense!" She yelled. "Cameron, go sit over there". He didn't move. "Cameron, now!" He still didn't move. This time, she came closer. He didn't get up. Instead he looked the other way with his back now facing her. She shifted her gaze towards me. "Fine, you both have detention". Cameron stood up, ready to protest.

"You can't blame Emily for this". Cameron said while walking to the front of the class. "I'm the reason she kept turning around. So I deserve detention, not her".

"Aw, Cameron got soft!" His friends teased. "How cute, he's protecting his girlfriend".

"We'll see how cute it is when I give you a black eye", he snapped, walking over to them. I stood up too.

"Cameron stop", I joined in. Cameron's friends shifted their gaze in my direction.

"Aw, she's protecting him now too! Better listen or you won't get kisses", they teased some more. Cameron swung fist and connected with one of their faces. They started to fight and I tried to break it up. Cameron swung one more time and this time hit me. I fell to the ground and Cameron stood over me, with the rest of the class, wondering what he had just done. His mouth dropped open and he was paralyzed with fear. I got up and instantly felt pain near my eye. I ran out of the room with Sean and Taylor behind me.

"Cameron," our teacher began. "You now have detention. Even your friends here". Class continued until it was over then Sean came to find me. I was leaning against my locker, watching Cameron sit on the floor near his next class.

"Do you think he meant to hit me?' I asked. Sean looked over then shook his head.

"No, of course not", he replied. "You saw how regretful he became after it happened. He was going for the other guys, not you". "He would never hit a girl".

"Should I go talk to him?" "I mean, what if he doesn't want to talk to me right now?"

"Emily, of course he wants to talk to you. You are his girlfriend after all". Sean walked away and left me standing there. I walked over to Cameron. He looked up and I could see pain, fear and regret fill his eyes. He got up and walked away. I stood there, confused as ever. Why doesn't he want to talk to me? He didn't mean it.......or did he? I shook my head. He didn't mean it. He wouldn't hit me on purpose. I looked all over for him until it was time for my next class, gym. I hate gym. It's the only class where all the boys take out their aggression and anger and play so violently against the girls. That includes Cameron too. During gym, I see a side of him that I have never seen before. He gets so aggressive and competitive, that part of me doesn't want to date him. I arrived at the gym and entered the locker room to change. The other girls in there started whispering and looking at me.

"Isn't that the girl that got hit in homeroom?" Someone asked.

"I think so. Look at her eye", another girl replied. I ignored their comments and went into the gym to sit on the bench. Cameron came out but didn't look at me. He sat next to 2 other guys and waited for class to start. I looked around for Taylor because she'll know what to do hopefully. She came out of the locker room and shot a look at Cameron. He still didn't look up at me but he did look at her.

"What do you think Cameron is thinking right now?" I asked Taylor. She turned to me and shrugged. Class started and the gym teacher started giving us a partner.

"Don't be Cameron. Don't be Cameron", I begged silently. Soon it was my turn to get a partner and sure enough, mine was Cameron. I approached where he was sitting and tried to start a conversation.

"So....I guess we're partners", I said, while breaking the silence. His eyes barely looked at me. "Cameron, what else do you want me to say? Why won't you talk to me?" He handed me a note then left the gym. I looked at the note and followed him out. As I was walking to find Cameron, somebody hiding from behind the gym doors grabbed my arm and pulled me close.

"What have you done to Cameron?"
