"Guys!" Jack yelled. The first thing I noticed when I looked at him was that his and Mark's hands were connected. A smile crept onto my face. "We're together!"

"Finally!" Both Phil and I laughed, making the pair blush.

"Thanks for your help, Dan. If you weren't there for me I'd still be lonely and miserable."

"No problem, dude. It pained me to see you two so obliviously in love."

My mum and I had decided to have a movie night together, considering we didn't spend nearly enough time with each other. We watched random Disney movies, eating so much popcorn that my stomach started to hurt and singing so much our throats went dry. It felt good to just relax and appreciate my mum. I fell asleep sometime through the third movie, my head on her shoulder.

When I woke up, I was laying in bed. I sat up, taking a moment to gather my bearings. I realised I was in my bedroom and fumbled for my phone to check the time. It was almost eleven in the morning and I had a few texts from Phil.

Phil: Did you fall asleep??

Phil: I bet you did :P

Phil: Goodnight, Dan. I love youuu

I felt slightly bad for falling asleep mid conversation but he didn't seem bothered so it was okay. I sent him a quick response before heading downstairs.

Me: I'm so sorry! I diiiiid fall asleep. Love you too though :)

I walked into the kitchen to find my mum, sipping at a cup of tea. "Morning." I mumbled. I grabbed a bowl from the cupboard and began to pour some cereal in it. It was nothing special, just cornflakes which were my usual.

"Is there anything you'd like to tell me?" My mum asked out of nowhere. I paused in my actions, turning to face her with furrowed eyebrows.

"No?" I replied, confusion laced in my voice. When she took a few minutes to reply, I went back to making my cereal, adding milk to the bowl. As soon as I shut the fridge, she started to talk again.

"Last night, I had to take you to bed. I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't remember, considering you were half asleep the entire time. I thought I'd be a nice mum and put your phone on charge."

I still didn't fully understand so I raised one eyebrow, expecting her to carry on. She didn't so I tried to logically work it out. I mixed around the contents of my bowl with the spoon as I thought until it hit me. The only thing she would have seen was Phil's messages.

"Did you see the messages from Phil?"

She nodded, mumbling, "Are you together?"

"Mum, people say 'I love you' platonically all the-"

"Are you together?"

"So what if we are? Have you got a problem with that?" I suddenly lost my appetite, dropping my spoon into the bowl and pushing it away from me.

"Not at all. I just- why didn't you tell me?"

"I don't know because I was afraid?"

"Dan, I'll love you no matter what and you know that."

"Well, yeah but you really liked Kayla..."

"I did but Phil is a very nice boy too." I smiled softly and she stood up, opening her arms to hug me. I had the best mum in the world.

One more chapter to go... it's technically an epilogue but I named it chapter 12 so there aren't 11 chapters if that makes sense :p
