I was still on a high when I walked into the office on Monday morning. That was until I caught an eyeful of Ben and Ebony going at it full guns blazing on the desk!

'Whoa, Jesus!' I said, stepping back and covering my eyes in horror and running back into the reception area.

'Fuck!' Ben squealed, as he and Ebony scurried to get themselves together, before deciding that it was safe for me to go back in. Ebony was now perched on the end of the desk, skirt up around her arse and the hair that earned her, her name falling over her eyes. I could see why she wasn't Mattie's favourite person in the world. Completely full of herself as false as Hell.

'Harry!' she cried, holding her arms out for added dramatic effect, as she ran up and kissed the air on either side of my cheeks.

'Ebony.' I said, having to remember that Ben was in the same room so I couldn't pull my usual face.

'I'm so sorry to hear about you and Jeannie. A horrible aspect of any relationship, splitting up so suddenly.' My mind wanted to say 'yeah you bet, you over tanned bitch' but instead, I just nodded and smiled politely.

'How was your weekend mate?' Ben said, as he finally got himself back together.

'It was ok.' I was careful of what to say in front of Ebony. I knew that there wasn't much in that head of hers, but she had ratted Jeannie out to Ben and Mattie, but she and the soon to be ex-got on very well, before everything had blown up in my face.

'As I was saying to Ben and Matthew...' Ebony began.

'Mattie.' I corrected, as I sat down. 'His name is Mattie.' Another reason my beloved Godson could not stand his step-mother. She continually insisted on having to lengthen his name when she knew perfectly well he wasn't christened Matthew.

'Yes, Mattie.' she smiled, flicking her hair, again mostly for dramatic effect. 'Anyway, as I was saying, I was telling them both that Jeannie was making a right show of herself in the club. That's why I couldn't wait to get those photos of her to show you.'

'I bet you couldn't.' I mumbled as I buried my head in my work.

'Yes, well, umm...' Ben said, as he got up from behind his desk. He placed his hands on Ebony's shoulders and, I swear to God, he started smelling her hair! I wanted to be sick seriously. Ben whispered something into his wife's ear and then she giggled like Ella would chuckle at Hannah Montana.

'Ben you are so right, I should leave you two alone. After all, you have work to do.' Of course, Ebony didn't! 'See you later.' She purred, as she snogged Ben with more force than a teenager on the heat. Again, my breakfast was threatening to make a reappearance.

'Bye, my darling.' Ebony said, blowing me a kiss. 'Come around and have dinner sometime. Ciao, ciao.' and with that, Ebony was gone. I shook my head as I watched Ben wiping his mouth with a smirk before I buried myself in numbers.

It was two weeks before Christmas, and I hadn't done anywhere near the amount of shopping that I should have. Ben suggested a quick shop and then lunch in the city. A big reason for this was that Mattie had been complaining that he hadn't seen me enough since he had been home. I was initially reluctant, when Ben mentioned the Steak House in Piccadilly, the carnivore inside of me spoke before I had the chance to. I loved that place, the smell of the beef as we walked through the door into a sea of red and black. The lunchtime menu was slightly different from the evening menu, but it still had the winner. 16oz Rib Eye with the works. Well, for Ben and me anyway.

'Can I have the veggie burger please?' Mattie said, causing the polish waitress to look at him as though he had two heads. He flashed his winning smile before the waitress took our menus and walked away, still giving Mattie the evils.
