Your playlist blasted from your speaker as you, Betty, and Veronica got ready for the spring formal in your bedroom. The three of you did everything together and spring formal was just another thing added to the long list.

"Ah! I'm so excited!" Betty exclaims while touching up her lips with a beautiful shade of light pink. "But do you think this is too much lipstick?" She takes a step back from your mirror and cocks her head to the side while examining herself.

"There's no such thing, Betts. Plus, I'm sure Jughead will think you're beautiful." Veronica smirks. Whenever someone even mentions Jughead, Betty's cheeks are always sure to turn a dark shade of pink. Jughead really does takes care of Betty and for that, you respect him.

"And we," Veronica points to you and then herself, "are going to have so much fun together! Best friends are always the best dates." Veronica smiles warmly at you and you do you're best to return the gesture.

You absolutely love Veronica and would go to the ends of the earth for her, but there's a reason she's your prom date. Your now ex-boyfriend, Archie Andrews.

Your heart fills with pain and sadness thinking of the red head. Things ended so badly and there's still so much anger between you two. He was quite literally your first love and you hate it that you wouldn't change a thing. How he would come through your window with pizza and sodas when you stressed about exams or how he would take hold of your forearms in his hands and gently kiss the top of your head before going to class. You try not to think that there will be no one like Archie but that thought doesn't seem to want to go away.

"Y/N?" Betty asks, pulling you out of your Archie-filled trance.

"Hmm?"

"Which one?" Veronica chimes in. That's when you notice Betty holding out two different necklaces.

"Uh, that one." You stutter, pointing to the necklace with rhinestones around it.

"Y/N, we know what you're going through." Veronica sits beside you. "You don't have to try to pretend to be happy."

"I just..." You trail off, "I guess I miss him." You look down at your newly manicured nails. "Which makes me feel so incredibly stupid." You add.

"You're not 'incredibly stupid.'" Betty says, coming to sit with you two. "We're here for you if you need anything. Tonight is going to be so much fun and we all get to experience it together!" You can't help but smile to your best friends.

"You're right. Thanks guys, this means more than you know." The three of you embrace in a group hug before slipping on your heels and driving to Riverdale High.

Before you and Veronica even reach the doors to the gymnasium, you already hear the booming music. Betty decided to wait for Jughead and insisted you two went ahead.

When you walk in, it's already packed with people dancing and talking. You can't help your eyes from searching for him towering over the crowd. You quickly remember you're not here to think about Archie, but to think about having a great time with your friends. That's what formals are supposed to be about.

"Wow, they actually have a punch bowl here!" Veronica says loudly over the crowd. You laugh as you remember Veronica and Kevin betting on if they would bring a punch bowl to the formal.

"You go out there! I'll go get us some punch!" She continues speaking loudly. You nod with a smile and make your way through the couples dancing. Suddenly a slow song starts to play and immediately people start pairing up. You sigh and instead hope to meet back up with Veronica at the punch table.
