Hard Times (NCT LUCAS)

ㅇChapter 3ㅇ

It was late at night and Jae was getting ready to go to bed. The dripping of the rain drops pattered lightly outside, hardly noticeable. 

Just as she closed her eyes, the bell to her apartment rang. 

"Who could it be at this time?" she muttered to herself. Pulling her night gown over her, she walked towards the door. The constant sound of the bell ringing ran through her apartment. Whoever was at the door had kept their hand on the bell. 

"I'm coming. I'm coming!"

She opened the door and to her surprise Ava was standing there, tears streaming down her face. 

"Ava? What are you doing here? Are you-"

She didn't even finish her sentence as Ava'shand met her cheek. Jae stood there, shocked. Hate filled Ava's eyes, but Jae was confused. 

"It was all because of you! You have to ruin everything! I hate you!" 

Jae had never felt more lost than right then. "What did I do?!" she half yelled back.

"You just have to be so perfect don't you? I knew I was little compared to you and your magnificence, but when I had a boyfriend and you didn't I finally felt happy. But even that was too good to be true!"

"What are you-" 

"LUCAS BROKE UP WITH ME BECAUSE OF YOU!! DO YOU FEEL HAPPY NOW HUH? YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU LITTLE-" Ava reached out to slap Jae again, but Jae moved out of the way just in time. 

"You're going to pay for this, you watch. I'm going to ruin your life." With those words Ava walked away, leaving Jae shook and at loss for words. 

Closing the door, Jae walked back inside. What did she mean, Lucas broke up with Ava because of her? How and why? 

Flashback:

Lucas came home, with another failed attempt to try to talk to Ava. He phoned her, saying they needed to talk. They met up, but it looked as if she didn't want to be here, with him. That's when he decided he would tell her. 

"what is it now Lucas?"

"We're breaking up." 

This shook Ava and she looked at him with wide eyes. "What do you mean break up?"

"We're done. I'm tired of hiding my feelings and you don't have time for me. So let's end it now before things get worse."

"What Lucas no! I didn't give you permission to break up with me so we're not broken up!"

"We are Ava." he looked at her with cold eyes. "You don't even love me. I'm just a tool for you to show to everyone."

"That-that's not true-"

"It is and you know it is. Forget it Ava, we're done."

And with that he walked off.
