SKY POV
I realized this was our real first date as I sit on the bathroom counter trying to figure out what to do with this mess I call my hair.
Bun? Curls? Ponytail?
All I'm doing is running my hands through it and teasing it in hopes that it'll magically turn into something suitable for the public.
Waves are easy, we're going for waves.
Now I had to figure out what to wear. Dallas didn't mention anything about where or what we were doing so I had no clue how to dress.
Casual, definitely has to be casual. He's not the fancy type.
I rifle through my closet, throwing potential outfits onto the chair. After changing a million times, I opt for a blush pink off the shoulder blouse and a white skirt. My thoughts on my outfit are interrupted by a knock on the door. I check myself out one last time in my bathroom mirror and get the door. I open up to see Dallas standing there, his arm extended out to lean on my doorframe. He was wearing his usual worn baseball cap, dark blue jeans, and a grey henley that hugged his muscles in all the right places.
Damn, he looked good.
"You ready, Corolla?", he smiles. I nod and he motions for me to head to his truck. As I pass him, he smells like a mix of cologne and fresh laundry.
We get into his truck and he rolls down windows while I tune his radio. "I'm the driver, isn't there a rule where I get to pick the music?", he jokes.
I give him a furrowed brow. "I don't think you mentioned that in any of our rules", I laugh as he rolls his eyes in sarcasm.
I shuffle through the stations until I hear a classic that I love. It was "BBQ Stain" by Tim McGraw.
Well, it was five years later on a south bound plane
I was headed down to New Orleans
To meet some friends of mine for the Mardi GrasI let my hand flow with the breeze out the window and I mindlessly sing the lyrics once again. I look over at Dallas and am having too much fun to be embarrassed. I just continue to sing to him as he looks on when suddenly he bursts out in song along with me.
She had a suntan line and red lipstick
I worked so hard for that first kiss
And a heart don't forget something like thatI press my hand to my heart giving him an exaggerated surprise face and we both can't help but laugh.
He really knows how to make me laugh without trying.
As he's driving, he takes his hat off for a second to run his hands through his messy hair before putting his back on his head. He lets his arm hang out the window as we continue down the winding country roads and I'm lost in this moment in time.
I steal a glance at Dallas and he's still laughing, his teeth white against his tan skin. He had the most adorable crooked smile. I hadn't noticed these little things before until now and I only wished I noticed sooner.
"Where are we going?", I ask him. I've lived in Luciole all my life and I wasn't familiar with any of these backroads.
"You're so impatient, you'll see", he smirks.
"Ass", I laugh as I roll my eyes at him.
We finally reach our destination and by how long it took us to get here, I'm assuming we're somewhere just outside of town.
