We sat silently on the uncomfortable forest floor. I watched the trees, searching for something, something that would never come. I expected a lone animal, or maybe even a wanderer to appear. Nothing came.

“I think I’ll go for a short walk.” I needed to clear my head.

He nodded, disappointed I didn’t ask him to join me.

I began to shift past stumps and unidentifiable flowers. This place is beautiful, why would anyone want to burn it down? I guess that’s what I’m here for.

Heath was my soul mate, my best friend. Yet he’s hurt me more than ever in these last couple months. Jared is the guy I can always share my feelings with, but he isn’t here right now. I felt alone, more than when I was locked in a wide room filled with nothing.

I collapsed onto the dirt, head in my hands.

How can I trust him anymore? He trusts me, but I’ve been faithful this whole time. I never lie to him, if I don’t tell him something, he figures it out anyway. I can’t hide things from him, but he uses his eyes as shields. His eyes show nothing but black emptiness.

I slowly made my way back to him, hoping he would drop our last conversation.

        “Do you trust me?”

        Nope.

I stared at him, pondering the question. Now would be a good time to share my feelings.

        “I did..” I trailed.
