(Here is a picture of Bronte-without pointed ears-I can draw one of him that does have pointed ears I DID NOT DRAW THIS! It just what I imagined Bronte to look like.)
I was surprised when she said Leo, I mean she was describing Dex, then again they are scarily alike.
"Little rebel heart." I laughed, she blushed slinking away. I pulled her into a hug as I said "It's ok if you like Leo, you can't help it, and let's face it. Elves can be boring." She giggled and hugged me back. Pulling away I said, "I need to talk to Bronte, but go chase down your demigod." She blushed but walked away.
Trotting down the stairs I knocked on the door, after a moment it swung open the Bronte stood there his brow raising. "What do I owe this surprise?" I put on my best smile as I said "We need to talk about Fintan." Both his brows raised at this and he asked slowly "We do...?" I nodded as I said "I don't trust him about this, but he said he might know something about Vespera's plans. He said he would write it down. I think, just consider it-"
"No." Was all he said, I frowned as said "But-" "No, Sophie, it could be an absolute trap. A death trap. We have enough shit to deal with, Kemlin is a madman, but still an elf. We have already been taught to look at the bigger enemy. Focusing on Fintan will be a mistake, these demigods are being more and more nosy by the ticking second. Two already know about our identity. I plan to keep it that way." Anger boiled in my stomach and I yelled "This could be our trip to stopping Neverseen!"
"It could also be a death sentence! Kemlin has already proven to be much smarter than we had originally realized! He plans to blow up the fucking work and we never even knew it, Sophie! I have done research on our volcano and it is very overdue for an eruption, humans knew this and we didn't. That thing can blow any fucking day!" Bronte yelled his fist tightening his side, I flinched his blue started darkening.
"We can't trust anyone, Sophie, hell. One of your friends could be a spy." Bronte spat, his shoulders tense "but by all means, do Fintan's plans. I won't be there though, I am only here to make sure you don't inflict on demigods."
"Oh? Like you did!" I fired back, his jaw tightened and he leaned in the corner of his eyes turning red telling me his inflicting wasn't holding much longer. "Sophie, I did it for good reasons." He stood back up and stepped into his room "Now fuck off." Then the door slammed closed rattling the whole hallway, I never wanted to punch a councillor in the face more than I wanted to punch Bronte-No, there was Dame Aline, she definitely earned that prize.
Clenching my fist I stormed down the hallways and Keefe emerged from his room and said "Whoo Foster! What's got you so riled up?" He waved the air between us his skin prickling with goosebumps. "Bronte." I spat, he wrapped his arms around my shoulder and he asked "What has that old bastard done this time?" I smiled a little as I said "I was trying to talk to him about something and he shut me down before I could even explain myself."
Keefe sighed "Sounds like him, and here I thought he was losing up." I laughed "I thought so too, perhaps we were wrong?" Keefe smiled down at me "Perhaps." Suddenly his face leaned closer and the smile fell from his lips, I felt my lips slacken also.
"Sophie!" A voice broke in and Keefe and I jumped apart, Fitz rounded the corner his teal eyes looking between us for a moment and I took in the fact he was in elven clothesWhy was the real reason? I frowned and Keefe ducked back into his room, Fitz looked as if he was about to say something but changed his mind and asked "Can you follow me? I need to talk to you."
I nodded and I followed him as he leads me through winding hallways his dark cloak fluttering. he stopped in front of a wall and I frowned and he said "It's a quiet place, this needs to be discussed in private." I frowned as I asked, "What's wrong?"
He reached inside his cloak and pulled out a silver paperback book and said "I was visiting Everglen, updating my family of what's going on and, of course, I had to take off the gloves but I was able to keep it under control. Anyways, while I was there my Mom handed me a book Kemlin wrote. She told me to read it, I think it might have plans of his destruction, more reasons. Many things. Again, we will have to look through it."
Smiling I went to walk away and said "Yeah, let me go get everyone." He grabbed my wrist to stop me from walking and he said slowly avoiding eye contact "I-I don't want everyone to know about this one. I wanted us to do this together, as Cognates, you know? I mean, if you don't want too, then we can tell the others, I just thought we could do this together." I smiled as I said, "Of course, Fitz, if that is what you want."
He smiled as he sat on the ground patting the spot in front of him, I flinched as I asked "N-Now?!" His smile faded and he nodded slowly as he said "Unless you want to do it later?" I shook my head as I sat down and said "Now is fine." He smiled as he opened the book.
It glowed brilliantly and he dropped the book and we both shot to our feet, he pulled me behind him as the image of a man with a deeply scarred face and black hair he laughed darkly and said
"Both my children bored your ship, but I don't care if they die. You all will face imminent fate, by the God of Mischief."
