We stood there sobbing for who knows how much longer before Cassius touched Keefe's left hand which I soon realized had armour on it as he asked "W-what is this?" Dex sniffled wiping his eyes but another sob slipped out as he said "I-It is a c-copy of a very strong suit i-it takes second to suit up but w-when it does it is b-bulletproof."
Cassius ran a finger over it as he stammered "M-May I keep it?" Dex nodded as he fought off more tears "Y-yes sir, you can keep it." Cassius nodded as he asked, "How do I take it off?" I looked at the palm of it and the glow of the pulse beam was gone showing any hope Keefe was still alive crumbling away.
Dex stumbled over to Keefe's body his sobs mixing in with pretty much everyone's cries, there was a flash and the wrinkly beloved leader of the Black Swan stood in Candleshade's pastures. He blinked a few moments as his eyes adjusted to the new place, his eyes landed on Keefe's body and his jaw fell open as he breathed "No." Immediately Mr Forkle fell to one knee checking his pulse, but before he could Sandor spat "He is dead, there is no point in trying."
Slowly his hand fell to his side as tears slid down his wrinkly face his bottom lip quivering. "I-I am so sorry." Mr Forkle whispered his voice cracking as he pushed Keefe's hair out from his forehead as if he was trying to remember him forever.
Looking at Keefe's slack face surprise still etched onto his face I could still remember his teasing smile and jokes at all the wrong times that would turn awkward situations into funny ones but one thing went through my head after all those good moments.
I will never be able to experience that again.
Another sob raked through me and I buried my face into Grady's shirt, he hugged me tightly as he pecked my head Edaline rubbing my back as she tried to comfort me.
Bronte gently lifted Keefe back into the air a small squeal of protest coming from Lord Cassius, it broke my heart to see Cassius clinging to Keefe's dead body, he had lost so much in so little time and even though all that he loved Keefe even though he didn't show it. Now he doesn't even have that.
Slowly Bronte's gaze met ours as he choked out "Are we ready to go?" I nodded peeling myself away from Grady and Edaline my friends peeling themselves away from their parents as well and pulling pathfinders out of their pockets. "Wait!" Oralie yelled stumbling over to Bronte as she carried a necklace, a replica of the one he wore but was now missing. So that's how he got his councillor clothes. Oralie slid it over his head and she looked at Keefe and her bottom lip quiver as she walked away her shoulders shaking with sobs.
Setting my hand on Bronte's shoulder I held my pathfinder up to the light and we glittered away appearing in the room we left from in the first place my nerves still slopping from the pain of Keefe's death. Bronte looked down at his councillor clothes as he sighed "I need to change." I nodded and he set Keefe back on the ground unclasping his councillor cloak as it fell to the floor the jewels encrusted into them glittering.
