The horns wailed in our ears striking fear through my veins, I looked around and my friends where on there feet in seconds, Fitz pale frame wobbled a bit but he held steady. Screeches and roars pierced the air and Bronte yelled "Run for your cabins!" We did as told.
We ran as fast as we could but I could hear leathery wings flapping above and low, hungry, angry growls growing closer. I glanced behind me to see a large black dog with reddish-orange veins, and lava dripping from its mouth snapping at my heels like a healthy snack. Bronte grabbed my elbow and jerked me to the right just as it pounced right where I was it's lava breath searing the ground. I ran in the direction of the Athena cabin, and Bronte bolted for the Zeus cabin ducking under a flying vampire thing.
Keefe's screamed filled my head and I whirled my head around to see a lava dog biting his ankle, I ran over to him the knot in my stomach tightening painfully as I constricted my inflicting, I crouched next to Keefe as he groaned and cried in pain gripping his bleeding ankle the lava dog. I now know as hellhound snarled arching its back and the bat-like creatures landed on the ground forming a circle around us, hellhounds joining in and Keefe spat "I never thought this would be the way I die, surrounded by hellhounds, my first day at a demigod camp." I glared at him and snapped "We are not going to die Keefe, just hold on."
I shot out my hands and the knot in my stomach unraveled and the creatures howled in pain and they collapsed in a heap. I helped Keefe up and he limped to his cabin, via-window, I bolted to the window only a small knot left in my stomach and a large vampire like creature landed in front of me. It was bigger than the others, with red eyes and long black claws.
Gasping I stumbled back, the creature hissed spitting green spittle everywhere. It lurched forward and I ducted it flew over me and collided with a tree, it spun around its hideous face scrunching up and lurching at me, its claws open as was it mouth. My hands flew up to block my face instinctively.
Suddenly a large skeleton hand shot from the ground and grabbed the creatures ankle and it slammed against the ground with a shriek. The hand rose further up, then a skeleton head popped out of the ground followed by a skeleton torso and legs. There stood a undead skeleton warrior a bone sword in hand wave it at the creature a small hole in the ground from where it crawled out of. The warrior tackled the creature and hand wrapped around my waist hauling me up, I screamed a little. Spinning around in the arms that held me, I was nose to nose with Nico Di Angelo.
He set me down and picked me up bride style and said "Hold on." Before darkness wrapped around me and my mind blanked for a second and it re-focused on the Athena cabin, Nico's ghostly complexion sharper in the glowing light of the golden door. He kicked the door and I tried wiggling out of his grip but he held me tightly.
The door flew open to show a man with dark brown hair and baby blue eyes, his brows furrowed when he saw us and he stepped aside as he asked "Nice to see you Nico...who are you carrying and why?" Nico set me down as he said "Hello Adrian, this is your sister, Sophie. She was out past curfew and was having trouble. Y'know, surviving. So I helped her, we need to get her a weapon to prevent that from happening." Adrian frowned at me and said "Or, she could follow the rules and stay inside after curfew." Nico shrugged saying "I am going to talk to her." I stiffened at that and Adrian nodded shutting to door and walking away his feet dragging.
Nico looked at me his dark eyes examining me, I withered in his gaze. His presence sending shivers down my spine and very intimidating. He held out his hand and said "Either we can talk here, or in your room. Which would you prefer?" I picked at my eyelashes pulling my gloves more around my fingers and I asked "Talk about what?" His piercing gaze burned into my face and I looked down and he chuckled "I am not trying to scare you, I just give off that vibe. I am pretty nice tho. But we are going to talk about why you where past curfew." Swallowing I felt sweat roll down my neck. I can't tell him why I was out, time to make an excuse.
