The truth. It's so goddamn rare that no one even attempts to find it. We just settle for the easy answer. For example, I could say right now that I hated school, and you would believe me. Truth is, school isn't bad at all, there are just things about it that kill me. No, it's not the work, and that doesn't mean I'm a nerd. It's not my friends either, and yes, I have them. Many actually. It's him.
No, I'm not saying I hate school because there's a guy who will never love me. He did. He told me hundreds of times that he did. But then that's where the truth comes in. Him telling me he loved me was an easy answer, and I accepted it even though he didn't show me he did.
I didn't realize at the time the sweet nothings that were sweet to me, were nothing to him. I didn't realize that whenever his 'mom' was texting him, it was the girl from last night, the night that he said he couldn't come over because he was with his brother. I didn't realize he actually didn't love me until I tested his words, but he didn't care to prove it.
He was a heart breaker, and I didn't know.
But I was going to make sure the rest of them did.
