Emma looked at the adult menu. She didn't like to order from the kid's menu. She thought the portions were 'too small'. She did like the crayons and activities that came with it though.
Marinette sat by herself in one booth as Emma had insisted that Adrien sit by her. Marinette looked up from her menu to see both Adrien and Emma both looking so serious in choosing a course.
"What would you like to drink?"
The waiter asked. Marinette was the first to answer.
"Coffee and a water."
Then Adrien followed.
"Ice tea."
He didn't really want Ice tea but since he was in the presence of Marinette and Emma. He choose to order something more kid friendly.
"Sugar or no?"
"No sugar."
Adrien replied to the waiter of a Pancake house. A more casual restaurant then Adrien was used to.
"And you, kiddo?"
The waiter asked.
"Strawberry lemonade."
Emma replied. She liked how this restaurant made strawberry lemonade. They would chop up strawberries in the lemonade and Emma would try to get them out with her straw instead of using a fork or spoon. This would keep her busy for quite a while.
"Are you guys ready to order or do you need more time?"
The waiter asked as Adrien quickly replied knowing that he needed more time to decide. He had so many options. He knew whatever he ordered he would have to work off the extra carb intake to prevent losing his model physic.
"I want pancakes."
Emma said looking over the menu just incase she might of missed something better then pancakes. She figured that if there pancakes had to be the best. After all the place was called Pancake Warehouse.
Marinette knew whatever she ordered that Emma would want to eat some of it. Emma ate probably more then a kid her age should but her appetite reminded Marinette of a certain stray.
"Are we ready to order?"
The waiter asked as he passed the drinks to the correct person who had ordered the said item. They ordered their food items and as they waited Emma broke the awkward silence.
"My school is doing a play."
Emma told Adrien all excitingly. Marinette already knew about it and how her daughter broke the stereotype gender roles for the role she was born to play.
"It is?"
Adrien replied as he looked an the girl try to figure out the maze on the kid menu.
"I was gonna be Ladybug but I kept saying puns so the teacher gave me the role of ChatNoir."
Emma said. Marinette wasn't against her daughter playing a male lead especially if she wanted to be the said Character.
"You didn't want to be Ladybug?"
Adrien said a little shocked that Emma didn't want to be the superhero that saved Paris countless of times who's death anniversary was coming up.
"I don't believe Ladybug's dead."
Emma said winking at her mother. Adrien wanted to believe that to but the evidence of her being dead was too great. The only two things missing was a body and a set of earrings.
"I don't think she's dead either. Just retired."
Marinette agreed with her daughter knowing that Ladybug wasn't dead just not returning to being a superhero when Paris didn't need one.
"Retired? She hasn't contacted anyone not her partner, ChatNoir nor her other teammates in ten years."
Adrien explained. The last time he saw Ladybug was a month after the endeavor with Marinette. Ladybug seemed distant towards ChatNoir. She couldn't look at him, he wondered if he did something to her to make her hate him so much. A fight between her and Papillon on Paris's docks caused her to be thrown into the sea to never be seen again.
Ladybug swam ashore farther down away from where anyone would spot her. She had just found out she was caring a child and knew that she couldn't juggle being a hero and a mother. She chose the better path. Paris could live without her but being a single parent her child could not.
"She probably had responsibilities to attend to."
Marinette replied instinctively looking at Emma and laying a hand on her own stomach all protectively. Adrien didn't want to believe that Ladybug would hang up her heroics so easily for anything, no matter what the reason is.
"She had a baby!"
Emma explained proud of herself for being the reason why Ladybug gave up saving Paris.
"Sure, she did."
Adrien said patting Emma on the head in disbelief. Marinette laughed when Emma stuck her tongue out at Adrien, who didn't believe her.
"Emma."
Marinette lightly scolded.
"Mommy.."
Emma softly mumbled back as she squinted her eyes at her mother.
"Cute."
Adrien said not knowing if her was talking about Emma or Marinette.
