Your Real Name

Karan and Sonic were running into the desert. Karan was on his modified skateboard which functions just like Shadow's air shoes. They could see Green Hill from a distance before it disappears again.

"Hey, Lord Karen!" Sonic suddenly stopped. He pointed up ahead. "Who's there?"

Karan quickly stopped his skateboard and took a look. The figure slowly started to look familiar.

"Gadget?" Karan could clearly see the red wolf holding someone behind his back.

"Hey buddy!" Sonic waved to his rookie friend who joined him to save their world.

"Hey Sonic! Dr. Karan, you have to tend to him!" Gadget looked at the black figure he was carrying behind him. "He's injured!"

"Bring him here, quickly!" Karan quickly unloaded his things from his skateboard. With a simply click, a tent set up by itself. He carried the unconscious figure from gadget onto the simple bed that was in the tent.

"He's heartbeat is slowing down... Looks he got shot in his abdomen. It's not too late yet." Karan had his stethoscope on its chest, and quickly extracted bandages from his bag of medical tools.

"It can't be... Infinite?" Sonic looked at the Jackal now breathing normally.

"I think he is... I mean, he looked similar, just without the mask." Gadget replied.

"Sonic... Before you start to lecture me... Shall I remind you that a doctor never turns down on a patient no matter who he is?" Karan looked at the blue hedgehog who was about to say something.

"What's he doing in the middle of a desert of all places? Shouldn't he be with Eggman?"

"I don't know... Looks like we'll have to ask him when he wakes up."

It was in the night where Infinite finally stirred. His first thought was how he was lying on such a soft pile of sand. He slowly opened his eyes and adjusted himself to his surroundings. He was in what looks to be a tent, with a bag on a stool next to him. He got up, and hissed in pain from the wound.

"Oh! You're awake!" He saw a human man, judging from his looks he looked like he was in his early twenties, his dark blue hair tied into a ponytail, paired with dark blue eyes. "Woah there! You're hurt, don't move around too much!"

"What? Where am I?" Infinite looked around.

"In the tent of a random traveler that goes with the name Karan. Gadget found you injured, carried you around looking for help until he found us."

"Gadget?"

"A red fox that helped Sonic the blue hedgehog win back the world. Isn't it, Infinite?" Karan looked at the Jackal.

"If you know who I am, why did you save me?"

"Well... Let's just put it in a way that a doctor will tend to a patient no matter who it is."

"So that guy's here, huh?" Infinite looked around.

"He and Sonic are outside enjoying supper. I'll knock you something up." With that, Karan exited the tent and returned later with a steaming bowl of onion soup and a loaf of bread.

"How did you even end up here? Where's Eggman?"

Infinite was silent for a moment to before he continued.

"He kind of... Fired me. He was about to hurt my fellows before I stood up against him. He then fired a laser towards me and here I am now. Nothing and powerless without the Phantom Ruby."

"I see... Well, on the bright side, you're free from that guy. Here's a tip for you: never team up with that Egghead, you so going to regret it."

"What about you? Aren't you a Master? You should be just kicking back and relaxing back in your city."

"I'm just travelling away from the city. I'll be heading back like...few days later?"

"I see."

"Oh hey Infinite!" Gadget walked in to find the enemy he defeated along with Sonic. "Are your wounds feeling better?"

"As if you care."Infinite cast away coldly." Why did you even save me?"

"Well... I can't stand to see you die in the middle of nowhere..."

"People should be glad that I'm gone."

"Not really. What about your Squad Jackal?"

Infinite immediately fell silent. His group of comrades who have helped him all this while. Did they still remember him?

"I actually thought that you may have headed back to the Squad Jackal living in the desert."

"I... Don't know. I wonder if they'll still accept the captain that betrayed them..."

"Maybe an explanation should do the trick right?"

"Speaking of which... I'm sure Infinite's not your real name, right?" Karan asked.

"Um... No?"

"I was right. There's no way you're named with that lousy word. Then, what's your name then?"

'Name, huh?' It's been a millennium since anyone's called his real name, not even his squad.

"Furu."

"Furu, huh? That means 'zero' in our language... Sounds cool."

"So, nice to meet you, Furu." Gadget looked at the Jackal who continued giving him an icy look.

Well, OK. Furu actually is the Japanese meaning of zero.
