Out on the Ocean Blue

"I am Keith of Motonui. You will board my boat, sail across the sea, and return the heart of Allura."

"Keith I swear if you repeat that line one more time today I am going to throw you into Lance and let him drown you, chosen or not." Hunk groans, laying belly up on the deck of the boat. "You have no idea how annoying hearing the same line over and over again can get."

"Sorry." Keith mutters, looking at the vast ocean as he readjusts the sails to catch the wind just right. "I just feel like I'm not... As if... ugh!"

"Like your going to mess up and be the biggest failure as well as known as the one who deserted the tribe instead of saved it?"

"Yeah." Keith's eyebrow twitched a bit. "Wouldn't have put it that way but that's exactly how I feel."

"Happens." Hunk noted as he sat up and rolled his shoulders. "Gods it feels so weird to not have solid earth under my shoulder blades like back home."

"Then you should have staid on the island and not fallowed me out here like Pidge did." There was an awkward silence between the two as Hunk rubbed the back of his head like he was trying to find the right words to something. "Hunk."

"Weeeeeellllll...." Hunk rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "That's not entirely true."

Keith looked up from trying to do the tie the sail's rope onto the rudder curiously, strands of his mullet falling his face that were missed when he put his hair up in a ponytail. Hunk slowly sat up and rolled his shoulders, stiff from being unmoving for so long. He stood up, careful not to rock the boat too much as he did and stomped gently on the ground.

Keith blinked, wondering if his friend had just gone crazy from heat exhaustion or being baked in the sun for too long. Hunk put up a finger as he did it one more time, a little harder this time. Then there was the sound of rustling and something banging on the small hatch on Hunk's side of the boat, accompanied by the angry shouting muffled by the wood.

Hunk opened the lid of the boat and a huge puff of golden brown hair popped up, covering almost their whole face. Keith almost felt like laughing, if not for the fact Keith had known Pidge for the longest time and knew one thing Hunk might not have.

"Pidge?" Hunk asked, helping her out of the hole and setting her feet on the deck. "Hey, get the hair out of your eyes."

Keith slowly prepped for what was about to happen as Pidge pulled the hair out of their eyes. Looking around with bright green eyes, she looked to the left. Then the right. Then did a full three sixty turn, fully silent and stone faced. Looking out to see that there was no land in this ocean of nothing, Pidge's eye twitched.

Then she screamed.

Hunk covered his ears and flinched away from the screaming female, having not expected this to happen at all. Keith rushed over and put her hair back in her face, making her stop screaming and sigh in relief. Leaning into Keith, the girl in feathers took a moment to just try to stop shaking. Hunk slowly came over, and as a true curious creature he is, pulled the hair out of her face one more time blushing slightly. She blinked for a second before screaming again, which caused him to drop the hair in her face once more to make the ear splitting sound stop.

"Dude, she's afraid of the water." Keith sighed as he sat down with her in his lap. "Why you think she never went swimming or fishing with us?"

"I just thought it was a girl thing man!" Hunk retorted, sitting down beside them, petting her hair as if she was one of his pigs back home. "It's okay, Pidge, you're alright."

"I am going to die." Pidge grumbles, her hands gripping onto Keith's arm tightly. "I am going to die out on the water and it's all because of your stupid plan."
