Chapter 19

When I walk out from the meeting with Oz I'm in a good mood.

I told Oz everything I learned about Salem's plans and we decided to move our plans forward to before her attack. We will first convince the circle to trust me and go along with the plan, help with the economy and other problems, as a true Queen should. Sunday in two weeks I will meet with Weiss dad to talk about his workforce and how badly he treats the Faunus. I'm hoping that by helping them I can get them on my side. Tomorrow Qrow will return from his secret mission and I will be there when he meets up with Oz if everything goes well. We should go ''public'' soon after dealing with the Schnee Dust Company. But today I will study.

"Hey, Ruby. Where were you?" I jump back. I hadn't expected Weiss to be awake yet. Yang didn't hear her, but I worry that she might wake up.

"Quiet! You'll wake Yang!"

"Fine. Where did you go?"

"I had a... meeting?"

"A meeting?"

"Yas. With Ozpin" Careful Ruby, don't mess this up.

"why did you meet up with the headmaster on a Sunday at seven?"

"IWell you see..."

"Common Ruby spit it out."

"I give him information." At least it isn't a lie.

"What information could you have that he doesn't?"

"I go on missions?" I lie.

"Without us?"

"Don't tell Yang. Shed freak out. I am continuing my moms work and that means going on solo missions. It's complicated. But basically, Uncle Qrow and I go on secret missions and no one is allowed to know."

"Really?"

Nod.

"That's so cool! But why you? Your still a first-year student and a kid. Isn't it a bit risky?"

"I can handle it. I'm just happy that I'm doing the dirty work and you guys don't have to. Not even other Hunters and Huntresses know. Qrow worked with mom. That's why he's involved. But please stay away from it. Ok?"

"What could be so secret that we aren't allowed to know but you are?" Weiss sounds bitter.

"It's dangerous. Your safer not knowing."

"When do you even have time for all this? You need to study!"

"When I'm at Guards. Don't worry. My studies are fine"

"But I do worry. You're changing and you have become so serious." I walk over to her and hug her.

"Weiss, you can trust me. I won't disappear like mom. I will stay here and fight when the time comes. Please understand, all I do is to protect you guys. I will do whatever it takes to protect this world. Now please go back to sleep. Blake will get released soon. We should be rested and happy, not tired and upset." As the words leave my mouth, tears fall from my cheek. I wipe them away and go back to bed. Weiss doesn't move for a while but eventually, I hear her go back to sleep. I know without looking at her that I said the right place and I know that I am not the only one crying. I can see Yangs eyes. She was awake and I'm pretty sure she heard everything. Her face shows pure terror and sadness.

I give her a soft smile and get out my book. I start reading the first Chapter. The sides are filled with Words in a language I don't understand and Pictures. I shouldn't be able to rd it but my brain translates the words without my doing anything. I'm sure if I wanted to I could have a conversation in this language. It's strange how familiar it is. The first chapter talks about Syl Roes. She was the first Queen. At first, she was a normal Faunus, an owl Faunus, she was nothing special. She was a healer and quite popular in her village. She only became Queen after she risked her life to protect a group of kids. After that, the gods started paying attention to the kind-hearted girl and after years of observing her as she saved lives and worked hard for her people, they decided to give her a gift. This gift would be passed down to her daughter and to her daughters' daughter. Her eyes once blue turned silver. She used her powers to heal and when she meets Oz they made a pact to protect the World of Remnant together and they set off to fight Salem. Back the Oz was still in his first body. As he died in battle the gods cursed him to never leave this world until Salem has been defeated. The fallen angel was reborn and Syl died leaving her only daughter to take over. Her daughter Celeste was a bright girl. Her knowledge was only meet by her presence. She used her powers to study the Grimm and Salem. She was the smartest being on Remnant and all the knowledge in the world could not satisfy her hunger for information. She died of old age. Skip forward a few generations there was Ines. A strong powerful Queen. She United the nations and was a formidable leader. She made friends with everyone she meets and the people loved her. She fell in love with Oz and they had a son. Of course, he didn't inherit the gift, but his daughter did. Ines died in battle against one of Salem's men. Her Son then built up the Guard. A few men were selected to protect the Queen and one was appointed the head Guard and was never to leave the Queen's side. A few hundred years later a girl I merged from the ashes of a city in Vacuo. She didn't have a name so the locales named her Cinder because half her face had been deformed in the fire. She grew up on the streets until Oz found her and taught her everything she needed to know about being a Queen. With Oz, she rebuilds the Guard. A young man who had helped her once volunteered to take the dangerous position. On a patrol through Emerald Forest, where she had put up her headquarters, she vanished along many of her courts.
