Chapter 17

Roman wakes me up when the movie is finishes.

"What time is it?"

"It's almost nine. If you want to be back early you'll have to leave now."

"Are you liking me out?" I joke.

"No of course not. Why would I kick out such a cute girl?" My cheeks turn red.

"Red are yo blushing?" Roman teases me.

"Shut up Guard!" I scream.

"Ok ok I get it. You awake now?"

"Yes!" I take back what I said before I liked him more before! I stand up and take my cape.

"I think I won't come tomorrow and Monday. I need to spend time with my team, but please keep the good work up."

"Have fun with your team."

"Thanks. Well see you Tuesday." I turn to open the door but he grabs my hand and stops me.

"Wait..."

"What is it?"

"Nothing, sorry I just... it's nothing." He stammers around. And look to the floor in embarrassment.

"Good Night Roman." I go onto my tiptoes and give him a light kiss on the forehead.

The walk home isn't very long, and I make it before quarter past nine. While walking back to Beacon I start thinking. Why did I do that? Why did he seem so flustered? Wasn't it complicated enough with my teammate having a crush on me? Am I falling for him? I push aside those thoughts. I need to focus no something else. I can deal with that after I talk with Oz tomorrow. There shouldn't have been a Nuckelavee in the Forest. They don't usually show up this near to Vale and there is no way that if it did come here by its self, a huntsman wouldn't have killed it a long time ago. It must have been put there, but by whom? Would Salem do something like that? Why bother planting a Grimm to kill student? Maybe she knows that I'm alive. But if she knows she would move her attack forward before I become stronger. Wouldn't she use the Circles confusion to her advantage? We would lose our biggest advantage: The effect of surprise. If she knows that I'm alive, which she probably does after I slaughtered her Nuckelavee, then the situation has changed drastically.

I make it back right in time and find Weiss and Yang still up. Weiss is studying, does she ever stop studying? Yang is playing a game on her Scrole.

"'m back! "

"Wow sis you weren't lying you are early today."

"I told you so didn't I? "

"Yea yea. I know, but its lonely with only Weiss here."

"I heard that!" Weiss yells from her desk, looking over her shoulder. I give her a soft smile.

"Well you don't need to worry about getting bored for the next two days, because I will be here every evening until you guys come with me to meet Guard." I stick out my tongue playfully and notice Weiss looking at me all funny.

"That's great! Hey Rubs think you can beat ?" Yang point at her scrole.

"Bring it on!" I grab my scrole and we sit down on the floor. Yang turns the big screen on and gets the game ready.

"Hey Weiss wanna play?" I turn to the Snow Queen.

"No thank you. I'd rather not indulge into childish games. I have to study. The exam is only a moth away."

"Oh common Weiss! Please? For me?" I beg with dad puppy eyes.

"One round." Weiss agrees. And sits down next to me. I smile and hand her Yangs scrole.

"You can play as Yang this round." "Ruby stop giving away my scrole!" "To late! "

Yang is steaming but backs down. Weiss and I start playing, but I defeat her in a matter of minutes. After that she retreats back to her chair but keeps watching me as I try and fail to beat my bolder sister.

"So Ruby. What do you actually do every evening at Guards place?" Weiss asks casually. I can't help but notice the curiosity seeping through as she tries to hide her intent.

"He cooked dinner for me. Then he fills me in on what has happened and he basically is giving me extra history lessons on Vale and it's crime network."

"He cooks every single evening? Why does he do that?"

"Because he's a nice person."

"Rubs how old is Guard? And am I correct in assuming it's a He?" Yang joins our conversation. We both put our scroles away and focus on the subject of Guard.

"He's a He. You were right to assume and if I am correct he is six years older than me which makes him twenty one. Why do you ask?"

"Oh you know..." Yang uses her soft and innocent voice.

"Actually I don't."

"Ruby you are at a grown mans house every single evening. You are a young and attractive girl, your sisters concern and suspicion is justified!" "Weiss! Don't phrase it like that!"

I look at the both of them confused.

"Ruby, Sis. If he tries anything indecent or lays a single thing er on you I swear to Oum he's as good as dead!"

"Wow slow down Yang. He would never try anything."

"How can you be sure?" Weiss asks.

"He wouldn't dare."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means he has to much respect and is to loyal to do anything. And besides, he knows that if I wanted to it wouldn't be hard for me to send him straight to hell."

"Well I'll trust you, but if anything happens you tell me! I won't let some perverted pedophile touch my little sister!"

I slam my head into the bed next to me. Why? Why must she be like this all the time? I love her but she's being a bit overprotective right now. We spend the evening laughing and playing games. I'm happy things are going back to normal between us.
