You Belong With Me (A Tony Stark fan-fic)

Chapter 2

It had been 10 minutes ago Maya awoke. Tony had stayed to make sure her Arc Reactor was working properly. Maya hadn't yet noticed how exactly Tony had saved her, she realized she hadn't asked yet and that Tony kept staring at her chest.

"Tony why are you stari--" She got cut of when she looked down at her own chest. Maya was shocked when she looked down to see an Arc Reactor, glowing light blue, with a diamond in the center. The tears started streaming down her face. "T..T...Tony, I.. I can't believe you gave me an Arc Reactor.."

"I'm sorry.. It was the only way I could think to save you in time.. I couldn't just let you die." Tony stated.

"No, no I'm not upset about it. I meant it like: I can't believe you took the time to give me an Arc Reactor just to save me." Maya said with a weak smile spread across her face. It was then Tony got a call on his ear piece.

(The call)

Tony answered. "Hello?"

"Stark! Is the girl ok?" Tony recognized the voice instantly. It was Clint.

"Yea she's ok.. now." Tony answered. "Why?"

"Because we need you back in the field." Clint responded. "We're getting creamed out here."

"Ok.. Um I'm on my way." Tony stated.

"Great." Clint replied.

(End call)

"Jarvis! Suit!" Tony said. Jarvis put the nearest suit onto Tony. "Maya, stay here."

"Wait! No! I want to help.." Maya pleaded with eyes that would dig into your soul.

"Maya.. you just died because of Loki and his army. Now you want to go fight them? I don't think so." Tony replied.

"But I can help!" She begged.

"No. I won't let you get hurt again, especially not until you and your new Arc Reactor adjust to each other." Tony said. Maya's fists clenched at her sides and her Arc Reactor started glowing a deep purple. "Maya what's going on?" Tony asked. Maya didn't reply but realized she was giving Tony clues that she's very different. She calmed down and the Arc Reactor in her chest went back to its normal light blue.

"Nothing." Maya replied through gritted teeth. "Just go help them."

"Ok?" Tony replied, slightly confused. "Stay safe.. ok? I'm not repairing you again.." They both laughed and with that Tony was off. He flew to the streets of New York to help the rest of the Avengers. Maya knew she should stay on the helicarrier but was desperate to help. She went up to Fury's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in." Fury said. Maya entered the room, ready for Fury to start questioning her like crazy. "Who are you?" he asked.

"I'm Maya. Um.. I'm the girl Tony had rescued." I stated. Maya had hid her new Arc Reactor well, wearing a gray shirt and thick black hoodie, though if you removed her hoodie you could see the Arc Reactor's glow through her shirt. He looked at her with a look of suspicion so Maya took off the hoodie so Fury could see the light blue Arc Reactor in her chest.

"Oh.. wow." Fury said before he asked. "What do you need?"

"I don't need anything, Director. I wish to go help the Avengers in battle." Maya replied confidently, only she knowing how she could help.

He laughed. "How could a girl like yourself help the Avengers? Its not like you have powers or anything.."

"You wanna bet?" Maya retorted. With that her Arc Reactor started glowing the deep purple. Within seconds of that Maya had transformed into a deep purple wolf with blue streaks. She doesn't lose control of her mind when she transforms either, she thinks just like a human would.

"Holy crap.. ok you can turn human again." Fury stated, nervous she would attack him. She transformed back into a human and shortly after, Maya's Arc Reactor was its normal light blue color again. "Wow Maya, impressive. Are you like part wolf?" Fury asked.

"Nope, I have very advanced shape-shifting skills." Maya said with confidence looking straight at Fury. "I can transform into any animal, take the look of any person and change my voice to match someone else's."

"Like Mystique? More commonly known as Raven Darkholm.." Fury asked.

"Yes, just like her. She's... um... well.. my mother." Maya said, looking down at the ground.

"So you're a mutant?" Fury asked. Maya just nodded. "Two more questions.. Is your name real and are you actually the blue figure your mother was if she wasn't someone else?"

"Yes, I was put up for adoption right after I was born, then taken in at 5 years old by the Stone's. And no, this is my true figure. I just have the power to shape-shift." Maya responded slightly disappointed, knowing the Fury was checking to make sure she wasn't a villain like her mother. "Oh and Director?"

"Yes Maya?" Fury asked.

"I do believe my mother is not a villain. She grew up with Professor X and Magneto as kids. I do believe there is good in her, I believe she has just as much good as me deep down." Maya stated before walking out knowing that Fury had been thinking about her being a child of a villain. She went back to the lab and waited for the Avengers to return.

Authors note: So how was it? What'd you guys think? You learned a little about Maya and her abilities :3 Now you understand why she got frustrated when Tony wouldn't let her come fight XD Anyway, if ur wondering why I used 'Professor X and Magneto' instead of their real names it's because it's 1. easier and 2. fun XD
