I close my eyes
and catch my demons
loitering in the corners
of my consciousness.
They crawl into the crevices
of my laugh lines
murmuring of moments
best forgotten.
I blink and turn my head
to shake them away,
try to elude these
unwelcomed stowaways,
who travel inside of my dark circles
while patiently awaiting
the arrival of my courage.
So that they can all
stand with me
to speak witness to
your undoing.
