Chapter 22:

Alex's POV-

She looked exactly like me. Sure, her hair was darker and she wore it shorter. Sure, her eyes were bright blue instead of bright green like mine. But other than that, she looked exactly like me. I just had to blink a couple times and smile at her. I didn't want to stare. But I knew I had to do something. As much as it pained me, I knew I had to do it. I had to call my jackass of a father. But that could wait. For now, Liam was grilling burgers, and I was surrounded by loving people. Me and Josie talked a lot and despite the eery similarities in our appearances, I discovered that I really liked her. We had slightly contrasting personalities, but really that made our conversation a lot more interesting. We were talking about her siblings one time and I just blurted out "Are you adopted?" She looked at me kind of funny. I was blushing so bad. "I-I'm so sorry," I started to apologize. "Yes, I am actually. And don't be afraid to ask, it's nothing to be ashamed of." I was still kind of embarrassed, so I went over and stood next to Niall. I was still dreading having to call my dad. He put his arm around me and kissed me on the side of the head. Liam grilled me up a burger and me and Niall sat down to eat. I ate almost as fast and as much as he did. I could tell he was impressed. Louis came and sat down next to me and kept trying to make me laugh until I cried. He most definitely succeeded. I was laughing so hard that I was in pain and I was sure that I had lost 10 pounds from laughing. It was crazy. This was a family, and I really felt like I was a part of it. They had just taken me under their wing and I just loved them for it. Looking around the room at each of them, I was just so thankful. Especially for this beautiful blonde boy next to me. He had helped me through so much. I was just extremely grateful for him right now. So I took him by the hand and led him into the house. Once we were in the kitchen, I turned around and looked at him. "I never really got the chance to properly thank you for everything you've done for-" He interrupted me. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. You think you have to thank me for that? Everything I've done, it wasn't something that you-" Now it was my turn to interrupt. "No, that's not what I meant. I know that you didn't do it because you wanted me to thank you for it. But I feel like I haven't told you how thankful I am. To have you. You mean so much to me and I love you so much. You are the most amazing person I've ever met in my whole life." I kissed him long and slow. I meant every word of what I had said, and even more than what I could say. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close. "Babe, I love you. Don't ever forget it. It's the truest thing I've ever said. You my love are everything to me." He kissed me this time, and I smiled. I couldn't believe that this wonderful boy was all for me. His arms wrapped around me, breathing in his wonderful smell, I honestly couldn't be happier. He made some excuse to kiss me every couple minutes. We stood in there for what seemed like hours. But I could have stood there with him for hours. I loved him than anything. Suddenly, Lou burst into the room loudly exclaiming, "Hey now! Let's keep our hand to ourselves!" Niall sighed and kissed me on the forehead before letting me go. He kept his arm around my waist. I stayed at the house for another several hours before Niall took me home. We stood on my doorstep, arms around each other, for at least another half hour. I adored him, but I needed sleep. He gave me a long sweet kiss before getting back into his car and driving away. I was the happiest I'd been in a very very long time as I shut the door behind me. That is, until I remembered something frightening. I still had to call my father.
