Chapter 24

Cooper's eyes widened, as did mine.
Did I really just say that?

My cheeks blushed fiercely, making my face hot. I averted my eyes away from his piercing gaze.

Cooper laughed, finally saying something, "Are you in heat, Estella?"

I crinkled my nose, heat?

Wouldn't he be able to tell?

His head tilted back and he sniffed the air.

I have a weird mate.

"That's not at all abnormal. He's smelling the air to smell of you're in heat. Which we are not or I'd know."

He shook his head, "You aren't in heat."

"Well that's just fantastic isn't it?"

"Not for me." He murmured underneath his breath.

This totally killed the mood.

My wolf was bummed. I felt her disappointment and I couldn't help but to agree.

Cooper began to speak but before he could even open his mouth my phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Estella-Rae Jennings! Where in the hell are you?!"

Well, shit.

"That's a very good question. Where are you?"

Now, I knew better than to smart off to my mother. But it was very typical of them to move and then my parents leave for God knows how long, and then they get back and move again. They don't even settle in!
And they wonder where all the money goes!

"Young lady I will not take that tone from you. Get home this instant."

I snorted. Home. Is it really home? Not to me. It's just another house. I'm not leaving this time. Why are we always moving?

"Mom, answer the question!"

"I'll tell you when you get home. Get home now, young lady."

"I'll see ya when I get there."

I hung up the phone and threw it on the bed side table.

My hands cupped my face and slowly made their way down it.

Cooper was instantly on my case asking questions.

"Who was it?"

"What did they want?"

"Who made you upset?"

"I'll kill them. Just tell me the name Estella."

"My mom wants me home." I dropped my hands and looked at him.

He eyebrows furrowed and shook his head. "She isn't taking you from me."

I opened up the doors to my house and I didn't even take two steps in and something felt off. Something smelt different.

"Estella! Kitchen now!"

Someone's got a stick up their butt.

"Yes, mother?" I smiled sweetly at her.

She returned the bittersweet smile and it dropped almost immediately like something hit her.

"And who is this?"

My eyes followed hers to Cooper.

He snarled at her.

I tilted my head, what's going on?

"This is Cooper."

My dad came out of no where giving Cooper his famous award winning smile.

Cooper tucked me into his side even further.

My mom eyed him, and once her eyes left him they went straight to me.

"I'm sorry, did I miss something?" I asked no one in particular.

"He's a werewolf." My eyes got wide as saucers.

"And you are too." My mother trailed.

There's two things about my mom. She can be very sweet. And then she can be very blunt.

Now, she's being very blunt.

I choked on my own spit.

Coopers soothing hand instantly went to drawing circles on my back.

"You know?!" I exclaimed.

"Why yes I know! Your dad is a werewolf!"

"Why was I left out of the loop!"

"We didn't want to scare you."

Cooper cleared his throat and his grip on me got even tighter.

"But you're not a werewolf." He concluded looking at my mom.

My mom cleared her throat looking perhaps uncomfortable.

"You're a vampire."

DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN! Yeah, I know. You guys hate me. Cliff hanger. AND it's very short. AND they didn't mate.
