It's afternoon now and the sunlight and heat was still too much for me but the open air was a lot better than my dark, old prison cell. I was inside one of the furnished cabins when suddenly there was a crash in the water, followed by the floor rocking. Gabby busted through my door and shouted, "Pirates!" I stumbled up from the bed and brought out my cutlasses from under the bed. I pulled the cloak and hood Breana gave to me off the hanger as I ran to the door and threw it over my shoulder (I would've worn my jacket, but those guards took it away from me!).
I got out the hallway and into the mayhem on the deck. The stranger pirates were attacking mine and we were outnumbered: 3 to 10. Gabby came up behind me and said, "Their ship shot at ours with their cannon. It barely missed and I've fixed that." I gave her a nod then pulled out my cutlasses. I ran into the chaos and immediately got halted by a woman with a blade ended spear pointed at me. I tilted away her point with one of my cutlasses and lunged at her stomach with the other. She swung her spear down from the air to the other side and nearly slit my throat. She swung again from the air but I blocked it with my crossed blades. The fight went one with swings and clangs and dodges and blocking. That was until, she got me in the right eye.
"Augh fffffffffuuuuudgenuggets!" I screamed holding onto my face as I collapsed to my knees hunched over in pain.
"Ha, I got you!" the woman said pointing her spear at me. Then as if a sudden realization came over to her she shouted, "Oh my gosh, is that you captain!?"
I looked up at her with my still-whole eye. She looked familiar. Algerita? I thought. Last time I saw her she couldn't fight. So if Algerita is here then. . .
"Oh my gosh," Algerita yelled out, "Taylor, I found Rabia!" Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to our direction. A tall girl wearing a black leather jumpsuit walked over to me.
"Oh shoot," she said helping me up, "I didn't know you were here."
"Ya don't say," I struggle up with my hand still on my mangled eye. "What are you doing here?"
"We came aboard looking for loot," Taylor started, "We saw Gabby here and thought she was being kidnapped by these creeps."
"Creeps!?" Jazz yelled, "Didn't you recognize Devin and I?"
Marysa swung her hammer over her shoulder, "Devin and who? First of all, that dude is way too pale, has horns, and a nice set of facial hair-"
"That I didn't want," Devin interjected.
"Second," she continued, "What in the BeJesus it that tiger looking thing!?"
"I'm Jazz, thank you very much!"
"So now that we've introduced each other," I said, "Hows about we reunite and become the Black Rose Pirates again?"
So here's what's been going on according to Taylor's tale. She's been the captain of our ship since I was gone. Algerita had trained herself to use a spear. Taylor, Marysa, and herself had been doing some plundering and scavenging in ships and cities (their gold is my gold now). Natalie and Simon had joined some soldiers somewhere in the mountains, Dane is out wandering on his own, and Radja is Krampus knows where.
"I suggest we recruit everyone," Gabby said when we were sitting together in my room. "My vision says it's someone that we know, but the person isn't anyone on this ship."
I gave her a blank stare, then said, "Do you expect me to sail all around the world just to find who's attacking the Underworld?"
"Come on! I told you why it matters. The Underworld isn't just a place for evil spirits, it's also-"
"Yeah sure whatever," I interrupted, "Just clear up your vision thingy. It will help all of us."
"Hey, I've only just started trying out psychic abilities," she snapped, "Besides, you should thank me for treating your eye." I guess she's right. Gabby casted a healing spell on my bandana and tied it around my stabbed eye. She says it'll take a while to fully heal.
