It's been three days in the water while Taylor directed me to where Natalie and Simon had been while I was gone. All the while, Jazz had been looking for ways to reverse Devin's slow transformation into some beast thing, Gabby's been using her vision, and Marysa and Algerita had been sparring.
We docked our ship at the docks 'cause that's what docks were meant for, then we climbed off the ship. "Where to now?" I asked.
"Well," Taylor said as she walked in front of me, "we look for the castle. Natalie and Simon are guards there."
"Careful though," Marysa groaned, "this kingdom is famous for its high security."
Algerita added, "Last time we were here, the guards attacked us and we didn't even do anything!"
"Yeah, that means no looting, captain," he nudged my side as he walked pass me.
I shrugged and walked, "I will do what I want."
As we walked towards the castle, I was so tempted by the vendors all around us. Gold. So much gold. Gold and silver and diamonds and crystals all over the damned marketplace. Why are we always walking through marketplaces? And why does Gabby feel the need to poke me in the side whenever I'm drooling at a jewelry stand? We kept walking though, and somehow a conversation about how Lucifer made Devin prince or something. Anywho, the crew was in the middle of the conversation and I realized that now is the chance for me to leave while they're not paying attention. I slowed down my pace till they were all ahead of me then I stopped and turned around. That's when I saw a jewelry stand full of diamonds and golds. Jackpot.
I'm still wearing the princess's dress and that will make me stand out, that's why I must be quick. Fortunately the place was crowded so it will be easy to blend in, but I kept my eyes locked to that stand. I pulled out one of the cutlasses from the belt around my waist and crouched down then made a beeline towards the stand. I got behind the middle aged man behind the counter, quietly rose up then forced my cutlass through the side of his neck. With a loud scream, he fell to the ground and bled out. He must've been real loud 'cause within an instant two guards in the crowd were looking right at me. I quickly place my cutlass in my belt and scooped up as much jewelry as I can in my arms. I really should've brought a bag 'cause I heard some rings and bracelets hit the ground as I ran through the crowd looking for my crew with guards right behind me.
"Rabia!" Algerita said as I caught up to them, "Where were you?"
"Oh no," Taylor glared at the shiny items in my arms, "Don't tell me you've been looting!"
"No time," I said, out breath as I ran past them.
"Great," said Gabby, "Now you're gonna attract the attention of-"
"Guards!" Jazz pointed with a claw. "Come back here Rabia!" Dammit. I groaned and jogged back. He materialized a bag and I dumped the treasure into it and it disappeared.
Taylor pointed her gun as the two guards approached us. One of them deflected the bullet with his shield. Devin ran and swung his sword at the other but the soldier blocked with his big sword. Soon we were surrounded by more guards. We countered their attacks, gathering the attention of the crowds in the market. A soldier appeared behind me but I jumped away from the swing of his sword. I used both of my cutlasses and knocked his helmet off, then slit his throat. I heard a female's voice behind me say, "Rabia!" I immediately turned around and swung my blade but it was stopped by the lady under the helmet's sword. She said, "Rabia, its me, Natalie," and she took her helmet off, revealing her familiar face and long dark hair tied back.
Then in the distance, there was a mechanical whirring sound, like the sound of a chainsaw. I can see that it was a chainsaw raised in the air. The owner yelled, "Yo, Get back to yer posts. These here are guests!" The shout sounded familiar.
"Simon?" Marysa said after a soldier backed away from her. The crew cheered as they surrounded Natalie and Simon while the soldiers dispersed. "Hey, what's that tiger thing?" Simon asked, pointing to Jazz with his chainsaw arm.
"Oh for the love of- I made a little mistake in a spell and I get mistaken for an animal!" Jazz stormed and paced about muttering to himself.
"That's just Jazz," Devin explained, "He did that while looking for a cure for my situation."
Natalie asked, "What situation?"
Gabby answered, "Well as you can see, Devin seems to be changing."
"I thought he was just in demon form."
"Now, ya see," said Devin, "I'm supposed to turn back to human, but I can't."
"Besides," I said, "I don't remember your teeth looking black and that sharp."
Devin's red eyes grew, "wut?"
