RICHARD:
"She looks so perfect standing there," the music blared from the back of Richard's truck. Christina sat next to him, chatting up a storm. Richard made a mental note to never pick up girls like Christina. They were too smart and made him feel like an idiot. Idiocy was something that Rich couldn't deal with. On top of his parents pressuring him to have straight A's, here was Christina. Telling him about how SHE was the smartest girl. How SHE would be the valedictorian. The list went on and on... Slowly, her voice faded out of Richard's mind. He turned his head towards the lunchroom. If only he was there instead of this damn truck. Christina was the last person he wanted to be with.
In the lunchroom, a girl was sitting in front of the window. She wasn't particularly pretty, but something about her made Richard stare. He couldn't put his finger on it. "What do you think, Rich?" Christina's loud, sour voice rang out. Richard swore under his breath and quickly covered his mouth. She would probably lecture him about his language now. But instead, she jumped up. "I have a meeting with the yearbook committee," she bragged. "I can try to fit you into my calendar later if time permits," she announced haughtily. Richard made a quick prayer. Thank god she was leaving. Suddenly, Christina pounced right on to his lips. He couldn't do anything about it. He didn't like her, but she was a good kisser, so who was he to argue?
That night, Richard lay in bed. He lay there sleepless for what seemed like forever. Eventually, he crept out of his room and out into his backyard he lay on the grass for minutes. Looking up into the clouds, the nameless girl haunted him. She had seemed so guarded... "Richard Daniel Stevenson, get your ass over here!" Lucinda Stevenson's voice cried into the night. Slowly, he stood up and made his way back to bed. This time he slept, but with much on his mind.
SAMANTHA:
The equations spilled out of Sam's notebook. She swore under her breath as she bent down to pick them up. There goes the bell. Sam sprints to the class and takes her usual seat at the back of the class. She hated math, all the stupid rules that make an answer appear was horrendous. But she had to pass it unless she wanted to have a tutor for math.
She walked into the cafeteria and took her spot near the window. Sam loved photography. Whenever she had the chance she would look at something beautiful. 'She looks so perfect' by 5SOS blares out of Richard's car as he pulls up in front of the window. BANG a wave of jealousy washes over her as she could see him and Christina sitting in the backseat. But to my surprise Richard didn't seem too happy being with Christina, he usually liked to pick up pretty girls like her. Suddenly he starts staring over at me as if nothing could break his gaze. Could he possibly think I was pretty? But no. Then once I look away they're kissing. She sighs he'll never even consider her, she thinks. And then Christina kisses him. But he's still looking at her. She doesn't stand a chance. Does she?
