Chapter 5

RICHARD

Rich stared at the girl with a blank look on his face. He sensed the obvious pain. On her face there were green, brown bruises unsuccessfuly covered up with concealer. "What happened..." His voice trailed off. "N-nothing much," the girl said with a stutter."No, something happened," Rich said firmly, "What is your name?" "Sam," the girl said. With no pride in her voice at all. Seeming like she would rather be anyone else. Judging by the bruises on her face, Rich couldn't blame her. "Are you going to be okay?" Richard asked full of concern, "You need to tell me what's wrong... Sam. What happened?" "My dad," she practically whispered. "WHAT?" Rich almost shouted. "I'm going to kill him," he muttered. "Don't," Sam pleaded, "The last thing I want is for everyone to get hurt."

After class, Rich found his feet taking him to the computer lab. It was study hall, but as long as he was studying... That was okay, right?

As Rich sat down at a computer, Doyle stood behind him. Richard was completely unaware of Doyle's presence. Rich started to google websites. 'How to track my birth father?' 'Who is my birth father' and a million more the exact same, just structured differently. Doyle's voice rang in Richard's ear, "Why is your ass in the computer lab, Stevenson? Don't you have better things to do than find your birth father," he said mockingly. Rich had had enough of Doyle. He stood up, stormed out, and returned to study hall.

SAMANTHA

"What happened?" He asked. Sam was too stunned to speak. Why had he talked to her? Sam decided to go with the original answer. "N-nothing much" She said but she knew he didn't buy it. "No, what happened?" He said firmly and then replied seconds later "what's your name?" "Sam" she replied but she still wondered why he wanted to know! It's not like he was interested in her was it? "Are you going to be okay?" He pauses thinking of what to say next and then says something else. "You need to tell me what's wrong... Sam what happened?" She started considering what would happen if she told him what had happened and then she decided to say "My dad" She whispered she was expecting other things that would be his response but not what he just said "WHAT?" He paused "I'm going to kill him" OMG! DID HE REALLY SAY THAT? She thinks and then says "don't. The last thing I want is for everyone to get hurt."

Sam is walking home fast this time. Sadly it's her fathers house for another four days.
