Richard:
Rich was walking home. He felt heavier than ever before. Every step was harder than the one before. It was excruciating. When he walked through the door of his house, he saw his mums; Lucinda Stevenson and Maria Carpenter. They were baking, so obviously happy. All smiles. They would even reach over to one another at any given time to give the other a kiss. Even if Rich wasn't looking for someone of the same sex, he craved that kind of love. "I'm home," he yelled. "Sweetie, how was your day," asked Maria. "Mama, Mum, can I ask you something?" Rich inquired. "Anything," Lucinda replied sweetly.
"First of all, I love you both more than anything. Okay?" Lucinda and Maria nodded. "Which one of you is my birth mother," he asked with a worried look on his face. They both looked at each other. Maria bit her lip, and all of Lucinda's muscles tensed. They both looked away. "Just tell me for gods sake," Richard roared. "Honey, there's something we haven't told you," Maria said worriedly, "I am your mother, you were in my womb. I gave birth to you." Rich slowly nodded. "But there is something you do not know," she continued, " Lucinda, your parent, the love of my life, is your father."
Samantha:
Backyards are somewhere where Sam could actually relax, even if one of them was in her dad's backyard. She lay there thinking and mulling over Richard. There was a rumour that he and Christina broke up because she couldn't accept that Richard had two mums. Really he did? Now she felt bad for him, he would probably get teased by Doyle; the ugly blonde who always teased Richard. It was quite confusing one time you see them hanging out like brothers and the next their staring each other down like they hated each other to the bone. Richard would wake up and hopefully realize that I would appreciate that and I wouldn't break up with him because of that if we ever were together! She thought. Thoughts like this raced through her mind for hours. With her swinging on the love seat swing with a bag of Ms. Vickie's in her hand. Funny how we have a love seat! There's no love in this house! She thought. Her dad wasn't home which was a problem. It meant that he was out partying and getting DRUNK. That last word clung to her for one reason. When her dad was drunk that meant he would get violent, verbally and physically. She went up the stairs, crawled into the covers of her bed and locked the door so her dad couldn't get in.
She woke up wondering what algebra class would be like with Richard. Would he be getting bullied? Would he be talking to her? Would he even sit beside her? She pulled on black high-waisted shorts and a true red tight shirt. Rubbed some concealer on her obvious wounds and noticed that they weren't as bad as the day before when they had been scratched on her body. Took a bagel and crept to her Jeep trying not to wake up her drunk sleepy dad.
