Chapter 38- Cherish

Natsu POV

Lucy and I are sitting nearby the lake talking and having a conversation about what we say and what we saw with our mothers then all sudden my mouth started moving, asking her an embarrassing question. "Lucy are you in love with me" she froze as my cheeks turned pink "What?" she replied "Oh well...I'm asking this...because you see... people have been gossiping about us being a couple and I also been talking to Violet and Summer about love and stuff" I rubbed the back of the head as she stared at me. My heart was pouncing, and my face was getting red "Why did I ask her that?" I thought to myself. "Natsu.," she spoke, but I couldn't let as I freaked out. "Oh sorry I shouldn't of asked that question, I don't know what I'm talking about here" I got to my feet. "So forget this fool's idea" I wanted to walk away from this embarrassment when suddenly ahead grabbed my shirt "Wait" she called "Why would you asked that if you're going to run away" I looked back to her and noticed a sad motion in her eyes and they looked hurt.I sat back down next to her "Lucy...I..." I wanted to tell her, but no words came out "Natsu, I give you my resolves" she spoke up as I gasped.

Lucy POV

I couldn't believe it he asked me if I was in love with him, I was relief what I heard, but then he had to freak out and denied the whole thing, typical Natsu "I give you my resolves" he gasped as I took a deep breath. "I've said this once before, but you were unconscious at the time and didn't hear what I said. "Lucy" he expressed my name, but I ignored it "But I don't mind saying it again" I scootch closer to him. "Natsu, your one who brought me to Fairy Tail, the home I've always wanted, You brought me on missions, and I made a lot a new friends, I was a complete stranger to you, but you help me anyway" I lead my head on his shoulder. "Not only that you protected me from the Phantom Lord guild that my father hired to bring me home, but because of that I finally dared to stand up to him" I grabbed his hand into mine. "You've always sneaked into my room and lay in my bed without permission, and I used to get mad at you and Happy for it" I closed my eyes and lay my head on his lap. "Lucy what are you..." I interpreted him "Hey Natsu, this is quite comfortable, now I see why men like laying on woman's lap." I stated as I turned my whole body with my face looking towards him and my back on the grass with my knees sticking up in the air while my head was still on his legs. I looked up at him, and he blushed "Lucy, this is 'kind of' embarrassing" he stated as I giggled "you think this is embarrassing wait until what I have to say" I closed my eyes and re-opened them "Natsu, I do love you."

Third Person POV

Lucy just confessed her love to Natsu with an open heart, but he responds "You.. are in love with me" she nodded her head. "But... that means what they said is true when Violet told me about your feelings towards another person; I just shut down. I thought you are in love with someone I hate, but then I found out that he was a twin brother instead of himself. I got very confessed, and it turns out that the real Summer was locked up this somewhere deep underground" Natsu stated while scratched his head "I've been trying to wrap my head around all this but you know me thinking makes my brain hurt real bad." Natsu sighed as Lucy smiled and lifted her hand to touch his face "Natsu, do you know what your name means?" she asked. "What it means, how should I know" Natsu replied as Lucy giggled "I'll give you a hit, your name comes from one of the four seasons, can you tell which one?" she questioned. "The Four Seasons, huh" Natsu responded as he tapped his finger on his chin. "Let's see, there's the cold snowing time Winter, Spring is where the flowers come out, Fall is my favorite one since I get to wear a creepy outfit and scared the crap of the people" Natsu grin and Lucy sweat-dropped "oh Natsu" Lucy whispered. "Then there is the hot, beach-time in the water which is Summer but I don't mind it that much" he stated all the season and then Lucy smiled "So which one is it?" she asked as Natsu took his sweet time to think about it. 10 Minutes passed and Lucy was getting impatient "You really thinking this through, aren't you" she said "Sorry but I have no idea, how is my name related to the weather that cycles every year. I mean come on if my parents were going to name me after a season they couldn't of just name Winter or Autumn instead of Natsu" he stated the obvious "Nope both wrong" Lucy replied, and Natsu looked down at her with a question mark above his head asking 'what?'

Lucy replied "I said they are both wrong" Natsu was more confused. "You said Winter and Autumn and both don't mean Natsu" Lucy stated waved her finger while one eye closed. "Oh, so it either Spring or...." he paused. "Summer" his went blank and then it hit him. "Natsu means Summer" Natsu finally answered the question "That's correct" she replied as she lifted herself up ."We have a winner, even though it took him longer than excepted" Lucy laughed. "Hey no fair your question didn't make any sense to me," Natsu said. "Oh please, it made perfect sense, you too big of an idiot to figure out until now." Lucy stated as Natsu expression changed, and she noticed "I know I am you don't have to rub it in my face" the gloom appeared while she apologized to him as she sat next to him "You know Lucy, I have feelings for you too. But I didn't know how to express it or should I say that I didn't what these feelings meant, when I first met you I thought you seemed like a nice person. But the emotion gotten stronger when during the flower viewing party when you got sick and you couldn't come with us I felt bad for that's when my emotion started to kick in I couldn't even enjoy the party when you were caught in bed with a nasty cold and so that's why Happy and I dunged up the tree and placed on boat for you to see" Lucy gasped. "The thing is I realized that I've been in love with you since that day, But I didn't want to ruin our friendship so kept quiet until now. I wasn't sure if you felt the same way since I didn't know you thought of me in that way. 

But the song of Summer's name changed everything, it forced out the emotion I had deep inside me and had no choice but to fight it back but then you started looking at me and embracing like I'm the most important person to you. But I never show the sigh until right now" he leads his head to hers and sighed. "I see, you felt something that same day" she replied. "When I first saw the rainbow cherry blossom, my heart was fluttering and when I found who took the risk to take from the space and put it on a boat for me to see. The heart I have gone from fluttered to pouncing with love" Lucy leans on Natsu once more while he wrapped his arm around behind her neck and placed his hand on her shoulder as they embarrassed each other comfort.
