Jacob Carter had always been a curious boy. Growing up, his family moved around alot, never truly explaining why. He learned quickly to stop asking questions, as he never got the answers that he wanted. He wanted to know what had happened to his little sister. One day she was there, playing in the park with him, the next his Mother was sobbing as he was the only Carter child that went home that day.
Jacob played by his parents rules his whole life. He was a good son, that did as he was told, and stepped out of line. He stopped asking questions about his younger sister, he didn't argue against the choices his parents made for their coven, and the fact they were working with a untrustworthy group of vampires. He didn't know for sure they were untrustworthy, until he overheard a conversation being had.
"I'm glad that we can count on you, Peter." Greta Sienna said, Jacob watching through a crack in the office door.
Peter nodded, as he leaned back in his chair. "Of course, Greta. Me and Allison are more than willing to help, given our past."
"Yes, the trouble with your daughter." Greta nodded knowingly. "With your help, our people can take care of problems like that with ease. Our work will remove all apex predators from our world, and make it a safer place."
Jacob furrowed his brow in confusion. "Restore the balance of nature. That is what my Mother was fighting for before she passed. So that no witch would more powerful than another, there would be no more halfbreeds."
"She was a great asset to the cause. Someone my husband would of been glad to have working for us." Greta told him. "I'm glad we have you and your wife to help us carry on what they were fighting for."
In that moment, Jacob Carter saw the vampire group for who they truly were. People who punished others for being different, and hated what they didn't understand. The type of people he learned about in school, who made history for their despicable crimes against others. In that moment, he learned that his parents thought in exactly the same way, and that his sister had fallen victim to their views.
In that moment, Jacob Carter decided he was no longer going to play by the rules. He wasn't going to become what his parents had, or what Greta's vampires had become. He was going to do right by the people they made into victims.
He wasn't sure how, but he was determined.

"You tracked her to here?"
"This where the locator spell told me to go."
"I knew I was going to hate this plan."
Jacob looked at Ashton, rolling his eyes. Ashton Keeton was his best friend, a vampire that turned when he was 17, after his parents made an enemy of humanity voice vampire. After the same vampire killed his parents, Ashton managed to fall in with the group of vampire purists, while try to adjust to an immortal life on his own. He didn't agree with their views on the world, he just didn't want to be alone.
When he met Jacob, he found a way out, and he took it. Jacob was 15 when they met, a boy who was beginning to rebel against his parents, and seemed angry at them for multiple different reasons. He was impressed by him, and was happy he wasn't the only one against what the purists were doing.
Their shared views brought them together that day, and ever since then, Ashton had been helping Jacob do something he wanted to do for a long time.
Find the sister his parents abandoned.
"The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted." Ashton read what the sign in front of them said. "Your sister attends Hogwarts?"
