"There is something I need to tell you. I just don't know how. So, to make you understand, maybe I should start from the end. On second thought, I'll just start at the beginning. We knew Landon needed us, and at the time, that's all any of us needed to know."
Remembrance day has ended on a sour note. While the Necromancer had given Hope and Eleanor some answers about Malivore, he had also used Eleanor's head dive as a chance to get the knife, and managed to return to Malivore so he could be free. According to him, the knife was one of three locks preventing Malivore being a supernatural apocalypse. When Hope found Eleanor passed out in her dorm room, she woke the girl up to explain what had happened, and also about the conversation she had with Raelynn Jade at the cemetery.
When Landon left, Hope gave him and Raelynn two magic bracelets, that if Landon used his Rae's would act as a compass to find him. He was under instructions to only use it if he was in trouble, and Rae's began to glow, meaning he needed help. So, at 3am, Hope, Eleanor and Raelynn met outside Hope's dorm and began the brief and rushed plan they'd put in place.
Eleanor and Raelynn waited silently by the front door, as Hope went to steal the jeep keys from Doctor Saltzman's office. Neither girls were making an effort to talk to one another. Raelynn was too busy silently panicking about Landon, and Eleanor wasn't in any mood for conversation after what happened the day before.
"Come on." Hope whispered as she returned, holding up the keys for them to see.
Raelynn let out a sigh of relief. "Finally. Let's go."
But, before any of the girls could even open the front door, an unimpressed and stern voice filled the air from behind them. "Going somewhere?" The three turned on their heels to face Alaric, who looked at them with narrowed eyes. "Better questions, where the hell do you all think you're going with my keys and without telling me?"
Eleanor internally groaned, knowing he wasn't about to go easy on them. Apparently, he and Hope came to blows after Eleanor left to talk to her Mother, and she'd said a few things she regretted in the heat of the moment. Though, Alaric hadn't exactly been kind with his words either, as he brought up he many ghosts of her past the Necromancer could of tortured her with. Including Hayley. He was right, the plan they'd gone through with was stupid and reckless, but he didn't need to drag up their past more then it already had been.
"Um, you know," Hope began awkwardly, the fact she was starting to lie instantly obvious. "I just said some really harsh things to you yesterday, and so I wanted to get you an oil change as peace offering. Ellie and Rae were going to help me."
The headmaster scoffed. "At 3am? Hope, none of you have a drivers license. You were going to commit grand theft auto, which is a felony. You're ditching school right before midterm exams begin, and you've made it very clear to me that you see me as an authority figure and nothing more." He listed off as he stepped closer to them, crossing his arms over his chest. "So tell me, why shouldn't I suspend all three of you this very second?"
"Because of this." Raelynn stated, holding her wrist that held the glowing compass.
Alaric sighed and looked at it bored. "And what's that?"
"It's basically a supernatural compass." Hope explained briefly.
"Well, I hope it's pointing to your rooms, as that's where you are all going." He shot back at them.
The Jade girl scoffed, shaking her head in refusal. "I'm going after Landon. If this thing is glowing, it means he's in trouble."
"You can mad at us all you want, Doctor Saltzman." Eleanor finally spoke up, making his eyes fall on her. He hadn't tried to talk to her about what had happened, placing all his focus on helping Rafael after what happened with the brief return of Cassie. "But we aren't just going to sit around and do nothing if Landon's in trouble."
