Amity, thats where I live. Thats where everyone frolics around the fields and are always grinning, thats also where i met a boy. His name is Jack and my name is Joan.
Jack, a boy with hair the colour of chocolate and eyes as blue as the sea. He made it clear that he liked me. I was plucking apples off a tree, I was perched on a wooden ladder and dropped the ripe apples into a woven straw basket that sat at the bottom of the tree. As I pulled the last apple off the tree and turned around to drop the apple in the basket I saw him leaning againt the thick brown trunk with a toothy grin on his face.
“The names Jack” He smiled.
“I’m Joan” I said reaching the bottom of the ladder.
“That’s a pretty name” He looked deeply into my eyes and I looked back.
“Thank you” I grinned, picking up the basket of apples.
“Need any help?” Jack offered me.
“Yes please, can you get the ladder?” I asked him, a smile plastered across my face.
“Yeah, no problem” Jack picked up the ladder and folded it.
That day was the first of many and Jack always walked me too and from school, he was so protective of me. One day he even asked me out. I accepted gladly and pulled him in for a hug; he kissed my cheek and made me blush.
At winter time when the snow fluttered to the ground and made the world look like it had pulled on a white blanket he bought me a hat, scarf and gloves, so that I didn’t get frostbite. That’s when I and Jack hit the age sixteen.
The age sixteen is such a big deal because that’s when we need to choose if we want to be Dauntless (for brave people) Amity (for the kind and peaceful) Abnegation (for selfless people also known as stiffs) Candor (for honest people) and finally Erudite (for the very intelligent people) you can also be Factionless but you don’t get a choice you only become Factionless if you don’t fit in anywhere else.
Jack, Amity, sixteen, factions, peaceful, kind and love are all words that are a big part of my story and my story begins right here…
