After many minutes of debating (which as Robin comes from Candor is one of her specialities) over who gets in trouble Mrs. Carrick decides it was both of us to blame and that was the end of the discussion (or debate)

Tina waits for me to get changed out of my gym clothes. I wait for Robin to change first before she tries to cause trouble. Robin sulks out of the changing rooms not even stopping to glare at me. Tina raises her eyebrows and turns her head to look at me, shell-shocked Robin didn’t stop to give me a dirty look or say something dreadful or even both.

I change back into my normal clothes (we don’t have a school uniform) I glance at my reflection (something Dan won’t be allowed to do until the second day of every third month) the mirror has a sliding panel which is suited to any kids from Abnegation. I have a red mark on the left side of my face which is where I landed when Robin rugby tackled me.

Red and yellow are the colours I wear since I am from Amity and since this is the last day of school I wear something a little fancier than usual. I wear a red and yellow dress with a braided belt through it and red and yellow pumps.

I eat my sweet and succulent orange at break which leaves a fresh taste in my mouth (it is fresh as I picked it this morning) Tina eats a handful of grapes.

Tina will always belong in Erudite, I mean she is just to intelligent. She studies for fun and instead of reading novels she reads dictionaries, thesauruses and encyclopaedias. Homework is her favourite thing about school and she dives right in, getting it done in the speed of light. Though Tina does have a love life, his names Rick (short for Richard) Rick is in Erudite also and they started out as “study buddies” and I have to take some credit for their romance. Rick is my cousin, you see my mum and his mum are sisters and my auntie decided to follow her love (now my uncle) and chose Erudite.

Sun shone through the clouds and my parents were watching Rick. We slurped on lemonade and ate sponge cake when I had an idea. Rick also studied for fun and was searching for someone to study with as was Tina. I called Tina and said I had found her a “study buddy” and that if she came round to my house I would show her a possibility. She agreed and ten minutes later there was a tap on the garden gate. I opened it and pointed at Rick who was licking his fingers after getting jam (from the cake) all over them. In less than an hour they became “study buddies” and that’s the tale of how their love began.

“Joan you don’t have to be so nervous about the tests today, it will be over before you know it, trust me” Tina says just before popping a few more grapes into her mouth.

Well thanks for reminding me I think to myself.

“I know it’s just since we aren’t allowed to prepare for it I don’t have a clue on what to expect” I tell her, truthfully.

“So, that’s all?” Tina asks me a curious look spread over her face.

“No also that mysterious liquid” I picture what it might look like or what is in it.

“My granddad works in the company that makes the liquid; I don’t know what is in it but it’s nothing to be worried about” Tina pats me on the back.

A boy from Dauntless who I think his name is Ron backflips off the wall just centimetres away from hitting Tina’s head. He is stopped when the bell rings while he is mid-flip.

Time for period three and I get to see Jack.
