Jesslyn’s POV:

I awoke with Elijah’s arm wrapped around my waist. Thinking to myself, it felt nice to finally have him here beside me. Running from him was a stupid idea, and I just didn’t want to do it anymore. There was just one thing that I had to do before I gave this baby up to an unknown family. Quietly I slipped out of the bed and got dressed. Rushing out of the room, I grabbed a taxi on the street.

“ Please take me to 1637 Monroe street please.”

“ That is a nice place.”

“ Yes it is my father’s house. I need to see him.”

The driver nodded and headed off in that direction. The taxi ride was silent and it made no sense why I was doing this. I hadn’t talked to my father in months, since he let Marcus kill my brother. Yes my father knew that Marcus was coming and he didn’t try to help us. He and my mother ran away to avoid him and live just a little longer. My parents never wanted to be parents. My parents always said that my brother and I were mistakes and that one day, we would get what was coming to us.  Finally, after a very thoughtful car ride, I arrived to the horrid house. This house was the place that I would come to hate because of the people who lived inside. Paying the driver, I stepped up to the oak door separating me. Knocking, a maid in a black and white uniform answered the door.

“Hello. Who are you?”

“Uhm, my name is Jesslyn Bennett and I think you work for my parents.”

“Mr. and Mrs. Bennett never told me that they had a daughter.”

“They also had a son, but he died in the line of fire.” Lie

The maid let me inside the brownstone. She scampered away, I guess in search of my father.

“I told you if she came to the door, do not let her in!”

I sat on the couch crossing my legs. The heel of my black stiletto boot was sticking out threatening to hurt someone.

“Well, you seem bright and cheerful as you are seeing someone you tried to have killed.”

“Jesslyn…”

“Father.”

“How have you been?”

“Well, I am having Marcus’ baby. He raped me the night you sent him to kill us. You and mother are going to be grandparents. Isn’t that just amazing.”

“Who saved you that night? You were supposed to die with your brother.”

“Yes, Mark died, and I will never forgive you for that. The man who saved me, his name is Elijah…”

“Mikaelson? Elijah Mikaelson saved you that night?”

“Yeah why?”

“I did business with his father. Thought Elijah was dead.”

“ No, he is alive and kicking.”

My father just nodded.

“Well thank you for your time dad, but I must be off. I have a sleeping Elijah back at my hotel room and I need to be there when he wakes up.”

With that I walked out the door, just then turning around, I decided to tell my father…

“Oh, by the way, I am changing my last name from Bennett to Sloan. Don’t want to be associated with a prick like you and a bitch like mom.”

Then I started to walk down the road, knowing I had done something right that day.
